I'm still interested in it, but if you told me even 5 years ago I wouldn't have been excited about a new Metroid Prime game I wouldn't have believed you.

It just doesn't "feel" like a Metroid game. I always loved the atmosphere of a lot of Metroid games, especially being on spooky spaceships/stations and exploring spooky worlds/temples. I'm sure that will be in the game, but it feels like they're trying out new stuff and I'm not really liking it. I don't feel like there was anything wrong with the formula they were using, so they should have just stuck with that. The Metroid Prime games were cozy to me, honestly, I still need to play Dread, but from what I saw of Dread it looked pretty fun desu.

no, that's zero mission (not counting chozodia). Fusion is the antithesis of super with its shit progression/exploration

>I don't understand how people can bother hating it over a pile of shit like Dread.
Dread is by no means a perfect game and I have serious issues with it as well but it's not a total joke like fusion. Progression, while railroaded, is less restrictive than fusion and the game has sequence breaks to make up for it.

Dread being a surprise masterpiece and the latest Prime 4 trailer made me realize I'm mostly interested in more 2D Metroid, that's where the real sauce is. Prime series always was a spinoff for secondaries, with the first two games being genuinely great and the third being boring and unnecessary. I hope Prime 4 will turn out to be much better than it seems judging by the trailers, but right now I'm only looking forward to the music and art direction.

Do you actually believe Metroid Dread had a huge budget? Not even the major Nintendo games like mainline Zelda have big budgets compared to other AAA games. The game budget was never disclosed but it’s likely average for a AA game. None of what you said about the game is true and it’s easy to tell. Unlike you, I actually play the games I talk about. You didn’t play it, that much is obvious, so your “criticism” is irrelevant garbage.

Well as a first boss lets dissect how the fight actually goes.
>introduces that it's a boss an not a regular enemy
>shows you can slide under it in the cutscene
>shows off it's moveset whilst visible
>invisible phase has you focusing on a spot with free aim whilst responding to those moves
>new phase requires you to slide under it
>parry demonstrates that you can also parry bosses as well as normal enemies
>ranged attacks and ground hazards to check you can use the wall hang
>uses invisibility again for wall hanging but with free aim
I'd say it tests out a fair bit of what a player can do quite early on.

And for the whole "stands there" thing. It's a key point that you're fighting half a monster that uses its ribcage to stand.

The helicopter boss comes in at the end of the tutorial mission and simultaneously demands that the player learn how to deal with a boss enemy that's tougher than regular enemies, AND demands that they learn how to utilize cover, AND learn proper aerial management since you do the best damage up close with your blade. If you try to "shoot at it until it dies" without understanding how to properly stagger it, you'll run out of ammo and AP before you even get halfway into the fight. Plus, being a helicopter, it can fly out of the operational zone, and constantly tries to keep distance from you, and damage falloff means that keeping your distance will prevent you from doing too much damage, so you have to constantly risk getting in its face just to do damage.

Apparently this was too much for both the modern audience and game journalists, and more than half the people that played the game were immediately filtered by him.

How does a helicopter "stagger" without dropping out the sky?
You've not only explained none of the points of why this is apparently a good boss fight but only make it sound like the game is harder than it actually is since the first boss must be in one of these near the top instead of the 50% you're suggesting.

Let me explain it to you again. The boss doesn't have a clearly defined weakness. There's no objectively right way to approach him. You just have to fend for yourself and figure out what works best. This is in staunch contrast to Dread, where the game basically telegraphs every single thing you're supposed to do, and constantly holds your hand by purposely making bosses too stupid to act, and giving you moments where the game essentially shields you from consequence and gives you free damage.

In Dread, the game tells you how to play it and win. In AC6, you learn how to play it and win.

He couldn't even answer the question. All he fucking has is webm's of the game he apparently hates so much but can't actually speak of in any depth.
You have to be pretty far gone to post these and expect any agreement from people in a thread full of others that have played the game.

Then the notion of having less cutscenes in a game should receive zero pushback. And yet here we are.

>>723723209
You're saying the game is some masterclass of advanced combat design, and yet in the same notion you say that literal QTE cutscenes are good, as if it's good design for a game to dodge and jump for you, while you get to do free damage. Whatever happened to the notion of dodging attacks manually, and not relying on the game to do it? Spectacleshit is one of the worst things to ever infect this industry, why would you willingly want more of it?

It's a 2D game where performing actions correctly rewards the player and you can see both the character and monster performing in their full capability that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to show in the usual 2D view.
You do dodge and jump manually through 99% of the game but you wouldn't know that since you spend all day arguing about things you've never played.

A cutscene is not a reward. That's snoy logic, and it doesn't belong in metroid.

OG Metroid is a masterclass, Zero Mission apes stuff from Fusion without the soul. As a remake it's lost in transition, changes too much of the original, doesn't do enough new itself. Also, that shitty epilogue section that's tacked on.
