SSTFE TSE and 2 have an appeal even if I don't get them. It's amazing to me how they fucked up that appeal with SS3 by reskinning their failed Doom4 pitch. After which, instead of learning anything, doubled down on their failures and made a shittier game called SS4.

Doesn't count. But Half-Life 1 & 2 did both get a lot of weird console ports, maybe at least one of them was bad.

Because it's more profitable that Sam never beats Mental and he's stuck in a time travelling loop that whenever he gets the mission done, it's never enough to prevent Mental from literally MOONING the Earth. If they would make a conclusion to Sam's adventures, that would mean they either have to come up with a new game that's not Serious Sam or Talo Principle or close the studio's doors.

It was the opposite. SS4 was the game that generated the most revenue, and they also had Talos Principle after SS3, which established a new fan base. It was because of this “success” that Croteam abandoned engine development and decided to focus on their franchises like a regular dev. The problem is that they decided to adopt Unreal Engine 5.

I like Sam, but I don't care for slaughtermaps. Doom's combat isn't designed around switching weapons often, so those fights just turn into spamming rockets or BFG shots into a crowd while denying movement with enemies.

Is Fusion a terrible way to play the trilogy(TFE, TSE, BFE)
Anonymous No.723718429 [Report]
>>723717519
It's alright, I guess. BFE in Fusion has a lot of changes which might be for the better. The enemies which previously were immune to bullets now take 50% damage, most infinite rocket/C4 crates are removed, shotgun is better, assault rifle and pistol are 100% accurate without ADS, assault rifle magazine capacity is twice larger, a particular annoying enemy has basically 1 HP. I kinda prefer original due to nostalgic reasons, also because infinite rocket crates owned.

I did and I loved it. It actually kind of feels like an actual third encounter, or at the very least a second and a half encounter, which kind of makes sense because apparently it was being developed at the same time the second encounter was. I think it did a lot right. I liked the unlocks, the combo system, and some of the new alternative ammo (though some are useless or are just way too situational like the grenade launcher ones). Some of the levels are just downright and probably the most artistic in the series, especially the Atlantis ones. Definitely worth a playthrough if you like SS.
