The difference is Don and Ryoshu don't go out of commission after using their S3s (or before that) and their S2s are amazing so the only time where they underperform is if they're stuck with only S1s, which at least in Ryoshu's case can be negated somewhat thanks to Contempt Awe resource gain making it worth it.

When you encounter sweepers in their intervallo the fight is actually pretty good though, their mechanics with the waves, the unbreakable reusable healing coins, the revive passives and the decent clash values accurately convey that they, while not individually that formidable, are just an endless wave that clears out everything through attrition.
The seaborn on the other hand are completely trivial in every single encounter, with no mechanics that you even need to read much less account for, and narratively instead of just running out the clock like you do the sweepers you beat them into retreating multiple times. To top it all off they don't even look cool, they look like fucking peccatula.

Unless you think that specifically the fights are "gameplay" and everything else is "not gameplay", which is dumb enough to invalidate your opinion entirely. I’m still missing the old starlight tree system but I like this current one too.
Parallax is a great addition as well and achievements, rest bonus and temporary teams too.
My only complaint is no new abno events CGs.
I have fun doing it (mostly) all week as well since I got every ID and EGO.
Sometimes I go Zwei, sometimes I go FIRE I SHALL FIRE team demolition, other times I go with Middle + Pequod, sometimes I try to see how far I can go solo with a specific identity into floor 15.
If I get bored of it I just play another game.

The difference is the Sweepers were able to actually fight back or at least could be going blow for blow and even when they weren't they were at least picking off sinners on the sides and I could see why they were hyped up as a threat with how many of them there were because there was a literal flood of them going around you as you fight and you even had Ricardo fighting for his life in the back.
These guys not only look non-threatening, you also don't see much of them.
The only threatening looking one was that giant flying whale at the end and these anemone ones.
The rest of looked like fodder and were exactly that.

If you lose the DPS race against the Seaborn, your entire team gets stagger++'d by nervous impairment and then dies. And I've never seen sweepers even remotely threaten the sinners. My first clear of sweepers had zero deaths, zero sinners even under 50% HP. Maybe a stagger or two here and there, that's the worst of it.
Both of them have the same game plan: Send in a ton of units, most of them die but stack at least some status/damage, eventually enemies might fall over. With Sweepers they deal that damage incrementally via bleed, with Seaborn, it's all or nothing, the nervous impairment feels like nothing until it insta-staggers the sinner and then they're basically dead on their feet thanks to the Seaborn's propensity for bringing a full 7 slots of action economy.
Speaking of those 7 slots, that's the annoying part of managing Mr. Handy. You've got to give up actual clashing or damage to turn it on, and if you let them set up Nethersea Brand often you'll really be hurting for that extra slot.

Anyway this is all moot because the reason this event had to take place like five years back in Arknights canon is because the Sea Terrors don't even exist anymore. All of them have evolved into new forms by now in the actual present day.

I downloaded arknights and I prefer it. The winrate is actually something I can ignore instead of tapping the same two buttons over and over again. And the encounters are relatively fun and force me to engage with the gameplay.

I'm still having fun with MD runs by switching things up but when I'm tired of it I just don't do it, and even if you absolutely need to force yourself to do it, it's about 20-30 minutes once per week, not exactly a big commitment here.

I read the first couple of events but I got bored of it midway through when I got to the village and I started skipping everything up until I reached the mid-boss, I read his stuff because that was cool and then I skipped everything until the last node that went back to super interesting stuff.
It's mostly boring as hell but there's some neat things sprinkled in every there and then.
Most of it is Arknight expo-dump and the sinners glazing these sea monsters.
