Games are obviously worse now despite having better graphics. But movies are just as bad off. (Compare starwars movies and games of the last decade to stuff from the past) comics are also totally retarded now so no one reads them. how is all media today so much fucking worse? Are they making everything shittt on purpose? Feels like every aspect of society is like this now down to the UI on a computer or modern cars being completely unreliable and retarded looking as well.

What was your favorite franchise that got fucked up? Mine was halo. I see VTMB2 is coming out soon and I don’t even need to play it to know it will be terrible. The first VTMB game was amazing.

Made into CoD 2019 ground war fast paced zoomer slop with no tactics.
Every map has to be tight and extremely balanced, forcing every map to be a 3 lane MOBA. Balance for the sake of esports and "accessibility".
TF2 did it first though. The moment they nerfed the short circuit was the "go" sign for every company to cater to esport slop balancing NPC shit instead of FUCKING FUN

I mean I play mostly indie games, so you probably heard of stuff like Balatro, Underrail, Animal Well or UFO 50.
Some lesser known titles: Sol Cesto, The King is Watching, Felvidek, Bug Fables, Rain World.
Also, Patapon Replay are really good on Switch / Steam Deck.

As an industry grows. It gets bloated. Game studios that started as five dudes in a garage hired secretaries and coders and PR people and fuckall who else and worst of all, they got public, which means making a game and making the money you spent on it back + a little something for your trouble isn't enough and each quarter has to be exponentially more profitable than the last or the stockholders will murder your whole family.
It'll collapse. It's a cyclical thing that takes like 30 years.
Back in the 60's they had the same problem in hollywood with ballooning budgets for making dumb biblical epics nobody gave a shit about and once the big studios crapped out, it allowed younger auteurs like spielberg and copolla to make cool shit. Then again in the 90's everyone had been doing big macho blockbusters for 20 years until they too collapsed and gave rise to the tarantinos and the nolans.

You are on a website for people who are actively engaging with their entertainment. That is not how normalfags aka >80% of humanity work. To them entertainment is nothing but a timewaster for relaxation between what actually matters to them: work, family and posturing in front of other normalfags. Entertainment is sometimes part of the last one, therefore very strictly regulated by the current trends. Therefore to businessses responsible for churning the high budget entertainment out the quality of their products is completely irrelevant as long as they meet the very low baseline floor of normalfags' expectations. The only thing that truly matters is the marketing.
As for why this wasn't the case in the past, it was probably the case of entertainment being a thing "by nerds for nerds" and the big businesses not yet knowing the described above meta of maximizing profits.

Nothing will ever be fixed. Even in the case of the crash, all that will happen will be the end of AAA dev budgets. The huge companies that own franchises with big marketing presence will merely downscale to something like Gamefreak's "15 million USD per game" budgets, lowering the quality even further and churning out abysmal dogshit until the end of civilization while everything else that isn't indie will just die.
