I liked the game, but I didn't encounter a single friendly player.
I don't mind getting BTFO after building trust to a stranger, that's the thrill of the genre. But acting like madmen right away takes away from the OG dayz like experience

i think i just got the jump on them while they were looting a chest and they were so grateful i wasnt a murder hobo that we teamed up and extracted together under fire from campers

I played 2 games of this shit, first game I saw nobody the whole match
Second game I encounter one guy and kill him, it was a ridiculously shit fight where we were both just hiding behind a pillar while we reloaded the shitty guns

the movement and gunplay was fine but everything else about this game was total shit, the aesthetic is so ugly and the flying robots are just annoying

the two streamers i watched talking about this game seem disingenous as fuck (shroud and lirik) as if they were being paid.


it just felt like third person hunt showdown but worse with shitty tacked on looting

This game feels very well made but I think the genre is just not for me. I spend most of the match in boredom running around, listening to out of stamina breathing, waiting for looting animations, and when there is excitement it is often followed swiftly by defeat and disappointment. Firing at an enemy feels like a dumb decision most of the time unless the kill is clearly guaranteed which is uncommon. I think it's intended to be thrilling to find good items and have to extract with them, but to me it's just uncomfortable anxiety. Maybe this is just expected of solo queue and I'm just too new to extraction shooters. I had roughly the same experience when I tried battle royales.

Zero sievert, sulfur and witchfire are all pretty good

Zero sievert is STALKER inspired top down with synthetik style combat with insane levels of gun customization

Sulfur is an FPS with whacky guns that you level up to add more enhancement slots and make them even crazier. Also has an incredible soundtrack

Witchfire is less extractiony, not much in the way of looting as keep your loadout on death but lose all items collected and quest progress in game on death

I think dark and darker added a pve mode recently, but I haven't played it. This genre desperately needs games that focus on coop pve. The pvp shit is terrible and will be infested with cheaters, sweats and neets that play in the most cancerous way. These games have no staying power, and its player base will cannibalise each other in no time. Good luck to you and your forty bucks that go down the drain if you pay up.

I've never played any other extractionslop so it's hard to guess how much of the mindless free-for-alling is just down to the server slam having practically no barrier to entry whatsoever so children and violent, destructive turd worlders can run amok, and how much of it is just going to be the norm in the full game.

I do know the game does fuck all to disincentivise playing like it's a battle royale and even gives you challenges to specifically damage other players when it really feels like pvp should be heavily discouraged since it makes absolutely no fucking sense in the context of the game.

roughly 40% of the players i teamed up with used a mic and were friendly with me, i added like 3x of them to friends list, and i only played for like 4 hours total. I'm also on OCE servers, so the playerpool is smaller and more chinky.

I had a fuckton of fun in the ~12 hours I played of the playtest over the weekend and I usually don't care for FOTM/Extraction shooter games, I just loved the game feel and the overall gameplay loop was great especially if youre in a good talkative squad, only worry I have is after +50 hours it might just run it's course, but we'll see.
I also heard The Finals supposedly has a pretty consumer friendly battlepass? So hopefully they don't fuck this one up either.

its pve for the most part afaik, but its still in the alpha stages, very small team, slow progress. But their artstyle and themes alone is best-in-genre. Nobody else comes close in that dept, so there's alot of cope that they can make it fun in the long term. I'm still waiting another year to play it seriously. Hope Arc Raiders can keep the chinks, cheaters, trannies and sweaties from ruining the game.
