Faith and many of the old girls are just that, another character that happens to be a girl. Many of the new female charcters are snarky insufferable girlbosses, often with mandatory "talking down to men" humiliation scene. It is simply jarring and they arent good characters. I'm not saying all new female characters are like that, but its so prevalent especially among bigger budget games that I've become fatigued. I dont want yet another annoying cardboard cutout, I want actual character with personality.

Yesnt. Many like the more fluid movement, but the story is somehow even worse and more directionless than ME1, and there's much heavier emphasis on combat. Pretty much every main mission has obligatory unavoidable combat scene. The open world is also so-so. While the first areas are good, mid-and endgame areas are basically just two direct lines. Also because the movement options are locked behind skill tree, most routes have to be very simple in case you havent unlocked advanced movement options. The later areas are also nonsensical from "realism" perspective which I found jarring.

All gripes aside, I enjoyed it for a single playthrough simply because I like the movement so much. Just try to look past its weaker areas and enjoy the running.

First game is better in many ways. The movement is clunkier, but mostly because you have to be more precise: you cant wallrun up a wall if you arent within ~20 degree angle, whereas ME2 is far more lenient. I found the more punishing and higher skillcap movement of ME1 more enjoyable. The story isnt bad, just bland and excuse to run. ME1 had much tighter level design though with tons of advanced shortcuts and more scripted stuff like chases, timed puzzles before enemies catch you and almost all combat is optional if you're good enough.

Ironically the main thing that was holding this game back in the aesthetics department was having Pratchett work on the script and Faith having too much of a gooky face in an otherwise good character with a great design (though the game model does make it look better, especially compared to whatever the hell that was in Catalyst).
