Are you playing scary games for spooky season?

Yes

I was a big of theirs and listened to all their podcasts back in their early days when I was still in Highschool. But around the time of their Prison Break playthrough I honestly just stopped watching them, I think I started growing up and realized Mat and Pat hated each other and Liam was a faggot and Woolie was alright but annoying

God, I miss this dumb shit.

I miss lets play channels in general. Twitch has ruined everything. I cannot stand people interacting with their cancerous faggot chat. It was better when people would play games together and interact with each other

The last scary game I played was Amnesia like 15 years ago, I was a gigantic pussy then and I mostly still am now (but now I just use the "I just don't find horror games fun" cope instead)

Yes I played through the F.E.A.R games, now having a go at Alien Isolation. It's a boring so far. Like 5 hours in. Then I'll play Labyrinth of the Demon King. I love Halloween season.

Maybe I should, I never ever play scary games.
Here are the ""horror"" (according to Steam) games I own, the ones crossed out I've played. Any worth playing?

And yeah there's some real shit in there that I'm not even sure where it came from.

This year I'm playing Prey
Every goddamn thing is a mimic
When do I get a weapon that can deal with this?

SOMA is good, not great but probably the best thing on that list.

Ok for what it is.
>SOMA
Play that shit, anon.

>>723720204 (OP)
Shitstorm V was the best. I still watch the old vids each year.

>are you playing any spooky games

It's been hit or miss for me.

>replaying Crow Country
But then I remembered the annoying as piss toe traps and other things that just hurt you and said fuck it

>tried playing the PC port of SH3
Once I realized the game was 'run around in the dark while shit chases you and it's not really scary,' I quit. But I'm watching the old TBFP LP of it since I like everything else about SH3 except playing it.

I need to find another spooky game for this week.

Not even sure where I got that either thinking about it, sure didn't buy it.

I would if there were any good ones that aren't just jumpscare themeparks, visual novels, or shooters disguised as horror games.

I remember loving SOMA at the time and thinking about how it was such an interesting concept, but the older and more philosophical I get, the more I realize the concept is fucking stupid and the protagonist was intentionally written to be a fucking idiot to pad out the narrative.
Anonymous No.723726012 [Report]
>>723725648
The concept makes complete sense and Simon (the protag) being a dipshit who doesn't get it / refuses to get it also makes sense. I just hate how much of a whiny bitch he is.

no, reddit month holds no sway over me
i play horror whenever i want to
Anonymous No.723726404 [Report]
Time goes by too fast, I got back from vacation on the 5th, the month is already almost over and I've played one game (RE8), I expected to play dead rising 3 but I got a rental house I need to fix up before this family moves in at the beginning of next month, so I got to paint the all the walls and clean up the yard.

The tag system on steam is so fucking stupid
It tags literally ANY game that has dark or uncomfortable subjects as horror.
>ready or not
>CoD WaW
>liars bar
>Doom 2016
>HL2
What a useless feature. I suppose TF2 is horror because it has gore as well?

Alan Wake and The Darkness 2, but neither are particularly scary. honestly most of those games in general aren't horror games.

What's the best way to play bioshock 2? I tried a couple years ago and I had crazy performance issues and crashing so I had to give up

Beat Uninvited on my NES for the first time in a while yesterday. I would not have been able to handle this as a child
Anonymous No.723726705 [Report] >>723726842 >>723727030
>>723726464
Yeah I was pretty sure Steam was just being silly with most of that stuff. Organ Trail is just Oregon Trail with a zombie backdrop (actually a fun game), Bioshock 1 has a fucked jumpscare, Max Payne (1) has the weird nightmare scenes, HL2 has Ravenholm...
I get why they're tagged I guess but most of those games certainly aren't horror in their entirety
Anonymous No.723726842 [Report]
>>723726705
Bioshock 1 was originally conceived as a horror game. Go find a copy of the original art book and weep at what could've been instead of the retarded libertarianism gone wrong game they made instead.

SOMA is a horror walking sim for people who have never had any exposure to philosophy in general. any intro PHIL course will dive deeper into the same concepts, and the the entire twist is openly shown to you in the first quarter of the game and the devs just expected people to be too stupid to put two and two together, and they wait till the end to just spell it out for you as if they were trying to hide it the entire time.

beat Night Manor on the UFO 50 which was cool
playing through Look Outside right now which is alright, I think I'm almost at the end
