It's adopted some of the modern design tendencies of big games in general. Completion lists and achievement trackers for minor, repetitive content. Ranked seasonal multiplayer with rewards to retain player numbers.

I haven't played a Pokemon since Gen 5 because the demos for 6, 7 and 8 were all ass. I'm having fun so far. I like they way they handle exploration giving you progression items and chances at rare monsters.
