Sports in general. Sometimes these can be okay like Golf Story, random tennis games, or the Mario games but in general sports games are ass across the board.
Indie Metroidvanias. Not all of them are bad but you really gotta look at what it is because it's almost always going to be forgettable. Low budget ones can sometimes turn out okay like Skautfold when you go into it expecting the low budget one dev game, but in general it's just a mess of a genre.
An indie game that's a deck builder. Non-indies seem to do this fine, but indies immediately go to the roguelike deck builder well and never stop.
Roguelike.
Focus on optional co-op despite being a singleplayer game because it means it nearly always has some sort of issues playing it singleplayer.
Crafting.
Survival, especially with crafting.
RPG games by indies. If it's not aping Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger specifically it's very likely to be an RPG Maker game about depression.
Indie puzzle games because they're either going to be those puzzle games where you do it like the dev intended or you don't clear it, or it's going to be so easy you fall asleep.
