It'a pretty medioce 6/10, that can go up or down couple points depending on how you feel about the source material.

Would have been one of the greatest games in recent memory if it was allowed to finish production instead getting rushed out the door. Instead it's painfully average with hints of greatness.
You can still enjoy it a lot if you like exploration, and it has good music, but the latter stratums were hit hard by the budget constraints and there's no reason to eat better food and so on.

Yes, it was my GOTY when it came out. It's an unfinished, janky mess, but going too deep without the proper supplies and losing an hour of progress was a lot of fun, and the kind of experience you no longer get in most games these days that are designed to be "streamlined" slop. They probably nerfed some of the difficulty with patches though.

The Abyss has both a physical and metaphysical pull. the game was pretty ok. not a great game but still one i enjoyed playing. spent 35 hours in it. it can be really short if you actually focus on unlocking more areas and fast travels to them or really long if you loiter around (and really tedious if you do so too much).
layer 3 was the most memorable one for how vertical it was.
it is a real shame they took out the piss & shit mechanics from the early preview footage
it is worth playing if you are interested in it but don't expect anything more than doujin quality
