6th generation was the peak of the experimentation era due to no over-inflated budgets, no kowtowing and dicksucking to shareholders, and the producers and executives didn't care about what the game would be like as long as it sold money. All of this while the price range was at around $30-50 max which made it accessible to a lot of people, especially when the economy was doing pretty good.

This game for example centers around fighting and defeating enemies by launching them in the air and juggling them like in Devil May Cry while controlling three characters. It was made by Konami in 2005.
You need all of these factors and environment to bring that back. The closest thing is the few indie and AA devs currently trying out 3D game development.
