I fucking love this game, I knew about it before the video, but I'm glad it attracted more people, it deserves recognition.
I played Dark Dwarves and they quickly became my favorite Race in any RTS ever, because instead of being the old wholesome Dwarves, they are starting an Industrial Revolution on a generic medieval fantasy setting, not unlike Isengard I suppose, but instead of dumb ugly orcs, you get mad scientists pumping out artillery and and mechanical marvels.

Have you noticed that they don't deploy any actual infantry units outside of the basic villager/worker? All combat units are automatons or machines of some kind, I just love that concept.

I even developed my own strat for the race that is actually pretty decent, I take the runemaster class for my hero and earth magic so that I can use the spell that repairs buildings, my whole combat plan is to build the simple palisade walls, becaue you can shoot through these unlike other walls, I put my artillery behind them forcing the enemy to try to break through them before being able to hurt me.
I've held off multiple insane level AIs with this strat, there are few strats that are as strong and most aren't as fun, you need to be quick to build palisades and keep them healed, on the attack you have to sort of leapfrog your artillery units forward and quickly build walls to protect your force, it's really fun.

And don't get me started on the kamikaze spider drones, you can use swarms to run a reign of terror on the enemy from the safety of your base and snipe enemy heroes.

They don't make games like this anymore.

playing Necromancer is really satisfying just making your hero a mana battery to mass summon skeletons to tie up the enemy then summon champion vampires who then in turn summon bats to eat buildings
