Path of Radiance is very forgiving because of BEXP. On Hard, it's still so easy the only units I lost were Mist and Rhys (overextended them because I was not paying attention to do everyone else stomping enemies so efficiently).
FE7 is pretty easy, provided you don't try to use every Scrimblo and actually let Marcus get some combats in.
Shadow Dragon gives you a bunch of replacement units if you lose units.
Binding Blade has such a fuckhuge cast because they expect you to lose some shitters along the way.

At most, he'd be dealing with two Pirates at a time. He can equip the Hatchet to hit back at range and keep both Pirates at bay, freeing up your Vanessa to do whatever whatever she wants.

That's all I've been saying.
