Fallout 3 main quest sucks and its just a lacking game.

No traits, easy enemies, and very few perks like outside of vat perks and the 2 critical perks i don’t think builds exist in 3.
You can pretty much use any gun and it will be fine, with zero perk support to help you. the skill increase barely helps.

Asking a genuine question here anons, should I get fallout 4 goty since it's 10 bucks right now on steam? Are there any mods to make it have the skill point allocation, weapon durability, and having silent a character with some more dialogue options? Just to make it feel a bit more like 3 and NV? Or should I just avoid it in it's entirety? For context I usually played TTW a lot (usually with the rebuild the capital mod as it adds a lot of content to F3 after broken steel). Also will take mod suggestions that more content to play through in TTW or base NV as well.

I always find it weird that people can play this game as an actual shooting game. It's the one major major issue. The shooting actually sucks, the damage from shooting yourself sucks, enemies move way too quickly also. It's a shame because vats makes the game trivially easy.

If you like Bethesda games, sure. If you only like FNV and want more FNV, nope.

Sure, but I don't see the point of it since there are no skill checks in the game (just CHA checks, a handful of INT checks, LUC checks of some dumb toys, one or two Medicine perk checks). In FO4 there is no real difference between vanilla's "Rank 5 Heavy Gunner" and modded's "skill 100 in Heavy Guns".
But you can try New Vegas Skill System (copy-pasta of FNV), Hot Diggity Redux (like F3/NV but with new things) or S7 Skill System (based on Skyrim's skill/perk system).

Yes, but the implementation isn't that great, especially if you want to install modded guns (like DegenerateDak's vanilla-friendly collection).
Try your luck with the recent MarkReal mods, they are designed to work with New Vegas Skill System in mind.

The perk and legendary system are awful as well as the lack of guns, ammo types, skills and ammo crafting.
Now for big gripes with survival mode itself. Everything you do can give you a disease. The only thing you can do is eat cleaner food and water to stop diseases but swimming, sleeping, getting hit and using meds will always have a chance. The herbal remedies are useless because they only temporarily stop you from getting certain diseases and you can't know which ones you'd get. Lastly water pumps trivialize all of water management the moment you place only one down, these things are infinite clean water and unlimited pure water as long as you have bottles.

I disagree. The gacha system for ridiculously unbalanced enchanted weapons and armor is probably the worst part of the game. Exploring is uninteresting not just because a lot of the locations aren't interesting, but because it doesn't really matter where you go, just keep walking around and eventually some random legendary enemy will randomly drop a piece of loot 10x better than anything that is handplaced or that randomly spawns in the chests at the end of dungeons.

There's "Roleplayer's Expanded Dialogue", "Start Me Up Redux", new ending mods like Subversion and Danse's Dilemma, and some quest mods that didn't bother to reuse the vanilla lines.
None of them will really improve the story but at least they can remove the "PRESS X TO SHAWN" from your character's backstory.

I will, once the remake comes out. Can't deal with those... graphics. If that's what you can even call them. Too janky. Too, well let's face it, UGLY. I find myself unable to play old games. Even games older than a decade. It's just all so tiring, hurts my eyes, hurts my head. I can't take it. Games that I'm sure were great for their time, but nowadays? No thanks. Never played New Vegas either, so I don't want my first time to be sullied by old out of date crap. Nostalgia can only go so far you know. And I have no nostalgia for it because I've never played it. So once the remake comes out I'll play it, sure. Yeah. I'll play it then, but until then? This old relic needs to stay in the past. Even though I've never played it, I can tell from the videos here that it's not fun to play in this form. Too out of date for me. I play recent games almost exclusively at this point. Even old games I'd like to play again, I can't. Like not just won't, but can't. They're too old. No QoL options, outdated controls... they're not fun. I can play a new game I've never heard of or an old game I love, I'm choosing the new game every time just for that reason alone. Call me a graphics wh*re all you want. But you know I 'm speaking the truth here. It's hard to go back and play an old game like that. Tried playing Ocarina of Time on an emulator once, couldn't do it. Looked like crap, played like crap. I couldn't get lost in that world. Not to mention the story, almost no existent. I couldn't take the characters seriously. So yeah, maybe when the remake comes out I'll give it a shot. Until then?
