so many games have laser weaponry feel like shit or just be a copy of normal bullet firing guns with no actual gimmick other than it shoots a pew pew beam

as long as it is actually powerful and has good hitreg, should usually tied to a heat mechanic
bonus points if it sets the target on fire

if this is a pulse laser and not a plasma weapon with travel time like how the picture is implying, then they can be very fun, having the gimmick of no heat and far better longer range performance
>bottom
highly powerful chemical laser, using some disposable cartridge with gas to create a beam so powerful it causes auto ignition of the air itself around whatever it hits
only one game has gotten this to feel somewhat right and that is the halo spartan laser
honorable mention is the titanfall charge rifle, though it doesn't have the explosion
