I've scrolled through the professional reviews that popped up yesterday in a few languages, and they were all pretty bad, like... the best one I've seen was like 3/5, pretty much every single one saying the open world completely sucks ass and the detective sequences are tedious as fuck.
Some said the story is actually quite good, others said it's utterly pedestrian, but literally none of the 5 or 6 reviews I've read were genuinely positive. At absolute best they were "it's not terrible, and if you are craving for a VTMB game you may overlook the more glarring problems."

So I don't think the reviews are being censored, but they really don't paint a positive image.

A very limited number of humans are part of the Inquisition and even then they don't really get much of the lore and just seeing vampire magic can fry their brain. Vamps got complacent and sloppy with the masquerade which turned out to be deadly. This is supposed to reinforce why it's needed now more than ever before, V5 is trying to turn the dial back on all that Gehenna shit to recapture the original flavour.

I hate to say it but the closest thing you could ever get is an mmo and I hate mmos.

It's like they made the main villains of the first game the plaguebearers. Only the plaguebearers are actually kinda spooky, despite Bishop Vick only really doing it because he's a caitiff that got traumatized over being a vampire.
