It was a very blatant loli/shota game, originally. Not even the slightest effort to make it seem like anything else; you're constantly treated as a kid, referred to as a kid, the character sprites make you look like a kid, absolutely everything pointed in that direction. Being a weak and helpless child with adults always trying to rape you was the core premise of the game. There was of course the obligatory "everyone is over 18, all the animals are just people in costumes, and the rape is all just roleplaying" disclaimer, but it was very tongue-in-cheek.
Later, the game got too mainstream and the creator didn't want trouble, so he tried to distance himself from all of it. Which is fair, but like >> said, he went about it in an incredibly faggy way, pissing on his entire original fanbase, gaslighting, and cultivating a new (incredibly toxic) community around the thoroughly scrubbed and sanitized version.
