Narrator was human, and he uses human expressions impossible for the bird shape he's taken within the construct. Things like
>save the trees, the birds, and most importantly the people
>reach your hand into your pocket to find a handwritten note
>I'll go pour myself a stiff drink
The first one separates birds from people, the second is impossible to his form, and the last one is very specific to humanity itself. Apart from direct quotes, there's also the human-centric everything about the construct like a cabin in the woods, castles and cutlery and board games, and so on.
In MY headcanon, he was, most uncharitable, very likely just a furry. More charitably, once the two gods took their forms, he may have tried to connect with TLQ (whether by familiarity, or to project himself/his will through him).
