I was living in a cave and I've never tried so called 'soulslike' games. Which games should I start with? Elden Ring? It seems to be the most acclaimed one.

elden ring is bad imo
ive played elden ring, ds3, and bloodborne and its the worst
i think people just like it because open world quantity vs quality

Elden Ring is the easy one. Best game ever created despite flaws of new design.
Then you can try Dark Souls.
3's difficulty will hard filter you if you didn't git gud and it lacks the openess.

Dark Souls if you want the classic janky souls experience.
Bloodborne if you want fast paced gameplay.
Dark Souls 3 if you want a blend of the two.
Elden Ring if you want Dark Souls 3 but more epic.
I recommend starting with Elden Ring and going for Dark Souls if you loved it and have patience for slower gameplay.

Don't listen to everyone else. Start with the first in the series: Demon's Souls. It emulates well on RPCS3. So get that, and then follow the setup instructions for Demon's Souls. When it's all configured properly, it runs smooth as butter.

Trust me, once you skip ahead to later games, it's harder to go back and appreciate the older ones. So in order to get maximum enjoyment, it's best to start with the first, and work your way through in release order.

don't listen to these guys. DO NOT start with elden ring. start with dark souls 1 and play at least up until the ornstein & smough fight.
if you liked the bosses/combat, play ds3 or bb.
if you liked the dungeon crawling/rpg stuff, play ds2

er throws a bunch of bullshit at you that might turn you off if you're not familiar or strong willed, plus it's open world and that spoils some of the original charm.
ds1 is much easier to handle with great world building. it's basically the new ocarina of time and is a must-play. you gotta see it first.
