The fuck are you talking about? The Dualshock had existed for a year or two by this point, and Sega still shat this thing out with a single joystick. The picture doesn't do it justice though, because it was also uncomfortable to hold for hours on end. I bought it on 9/9/99 with sonic adventure and Tokyo Xtreme racer btw, so my opinion is objectively correct here.

I love the Dreamcast but the triggers hurt my fingers. I feel so fuckin gay saying that but I need to limit my racing games to like 30 minutes or map gas to face buttons.

you are supposed to switch between the middle and left handles for different games if it calls for the joystick or the dpad to be used. im not going to say that the n64 was a good controller but if you don't understand how it is supposed to work in 2025 then you are just dumb.

It was a simplied/cheaped out version of the sega saturn controller, but at least the joystick didn't suffer from drift.

The dreamcast was prepared to accept a second joystick and extra buttons in it's controller if it needed to, sega just never got around to it. The xbox controller is pretty close to what the dreamcast controller would have become.
