I am unable to enjoy any video game story. I really just don't care about any of it.

Games are horrendous at telling a story. I like stories of Expedition 33 and Nine Sols, but they both have moments that would send any movie to a 5/10 realm

Play Doom then. It's all gameplay and skippable fluff text every eight levels or so.

What do any threads here accomplish? What a stupid post, you're just here to sneer at people and what purpose does that even serve?
Anonymous No.723873703 [Report] >>723874508
thankfully there are tons of games with entirely skippable stories, such as Noita or FTL. The story is there, but you don't have to read it. It's more of a "If you ever wondered" situation.

start playing vidya with exclusively-abstracted stories like UFO50 and you might find some interest.

Literally name one (1) example of this in E33

Oh, you can't? Carry on.

there was a time when people who liked video games came here to talk about them

I havent even played the game but if you presented a movie-going audience with those disgusting half-baked enemy models in your le epik anime-tier story, the movie's reception would not hear the end of it.

I thought we were talking about story, not graphics?

OP here, thanks for the rec, but I already really fucking love Doom and have played it multiple times.

You wake up and your sister starts lore dumping on your ass in the mostlazy obvious way. Also they blueball you for 2 acts telling you nothing and then dump the whole plot on you and 90% of act 3 is side content, so you dont know nothing, then they show you a movie basically, 1 or 2 missions and you are watching ending cutscene, either that or you are overleveled into oblivion and final final fight loses any narrative punch

Animals holding swords in their mouths is simply cool, u don't need no story to appreciate that.

Noita is so based
Just turned in my first God run. Was hard to let go but I wanna play some fresh runs.
Ftl is like my other favorite roguelike/lite whatever. I can just kick its ass too much. Hope to get there with noita.
Both solid games with incredible replay value

>like games
>like books
>buy game
>it turns out to be more of a book
>don't mind because I like books and now I get to enjoy a cool story
Why is this so hard for gamers to understand? 999 and Xenogears both had great stories. There's nothing wrong with using games as a storytelling medium.

This, the only game I've ever played that has come close to movie quality of storytelling was RDR2 for me, and even then that was character writing, not so much the story
