Whenever I play minecraft I always do the same autistic stuff: build a half-assed base thinking I will build a good one later, kill ender dragon, fail to build anything remotely acceptable, and quit the game

set up a concrete project for yourself, don't just go "eeeeh, i'll do... whateeeever" actually think WHAT you wanna build, make a cool ass epic factory or castle or roleplay as a mass genocidal dictator, do something creative and don't be afraid to get into a character, don't just view at as "i'm playing a game, i need to collect items for game functions", look at it as "let me set out to build my empire from nothing" or whatever you're doing

i can never manage to get past needing blaze rods for potion crafting. the nether is such a colossal pile of shit and there are a dozen biomes without blazes for some fucking reason.
my other option is spend hours making an XP grinder and hours using it so i can have a full set of enchanted gear.

how are you beating a boss like it's nothing and then getting bored?

Anon the only place in the nether with blazes are the nether fortresses.

You're supposed to build a huge tower to avoid all the garbage mobs, and then bridge to wherever is the nearest fortress.

It's a very easy and quick process if you know what you are doing. I'd check a speedrun if I were you, they give a good idea of what are your win conditions (just ignore the process of fighting the ender dragon because you are not going to use beds in your first attempt)

yeah and that was fine a decade ago when that was the only POI in the nether. now they are drowned out by a dozen shitty biomes with nothing worthwhile in them

No, the nether fortress distribution never changed. They exist at the pattern of pic related around the nether, with the exact same distances pictured, and this has been the case for decades.

You can always get out of the hole. Check the height.

No it's literally just build a tower and bridge "in a straight line" (because what else would you do? you can't walk in curves in minecraft) until you find the fortress it'll be literally any direction you go you can't avoid it, if you walk in any direction for 5 minutes you'll find one.

Find a good place with lots of building area, your favourite biome and some nearby landmarks like villages or dungeons or just nature formations you like. Build a very basic manor, pirate ship or small castle. You only need wood and cobblestone for that and those are really easy to get.
Then expand and remake areas with the new blocks you get.
Build a small farm with animals and crops and keep it decorated with fences and paths and some lighting. Maybe even make a shed to shield your animals from rain, add cauldrons as troughs for the animals or barn with hayballs.
If you are feeling extra creative, you can reinforce your mine with scaffoldings, but personally I am too lazy for that.

griefing is literally the only interesting thing about minecraft

try sticking to one world and building cool stuff over time
racing to the ender drag and just grinding gear is not very fulfilling in minecraft specfically. it can be for the speedrun nerds and this game does have skill expression, but doing the bare minimum is boring and unfun.

I recently committed to a large art project and I have been chipping away at it. I only fought the ender dragon just so I could get shulker boxes and carry more sand around, and I have been actually engaging with the village system just so I can get any kind of tool I need for any task. even just selling garbage to them is a really good exp grind, so I have been farming and enchanting more than when I build a shitty spawner. Just establishing a large scale foundation of resources is a huge task in of itself, and I can always take breaks and do other shit.
swimming around with night vision potions and breathing potions is way more fun than just walking around caves for me, I really enjoy engaging with potions now. Once I finish my giant omni-man art im going to finally upgrade to nether gear and get more shulker boxes, then finish my ice highways.
