I dont think it flopped, and I think this means they will just flanderize their own premise to keep making games.
>Kurosawa inspired Japan with a typical samurai story narrative
vs
>a condemnation of Japanese culture with Kurosawa aesthetics
Like, they fucked their own premise "this place is beautiful, but its fucking corrupt actualy and oppressive". First game was a love letter to japanese culture and aesthetics, the sequel condemns Japanese culture. Watch as the 5th game introduces white people as the invaders and we are now talking about evil colonialism from the white race, and its no longer about simple addoration of Japan, but more using historical events to point a finger at others.
There should not have been a sequel. It was a nice and neat story with unique visuals. Now its competing with its own brand for relevance.
