It's hard to explain the appeal of Mario to people who didn't have fun childhoods. I remember going to a bounce house for the first time as a kid. Jumping around with the other kids was fun. At 45 years old, my knees can hardly support my weight while standing for even a few minutes, let alone bouncing. The Mario games help me recreate that childhood magic from my living room bed

Miyamoto as an adult figured out how to harness the essence of childhood fun in a way that anyone can enjoy.
