I think people just got sick of them by the end for multiple reasons. The studio's quality had diminished greatly. They were doing these "games" for pretty much every major IP under the sun and there was always a growing amount of time between episodes.
I would say the approach they are doing with Dispatch is what it always should have been. Finish the game, completely, and then release episodes weekly in order to fuel discussion and give people time to speculate.

I think the point is that each successive mecha man had less and less time with their predecessor. Robert states that his grandpa died before he was born, but at the same time it sounds like Robert's dad died when he was just 11 giving him no real time to learn things and instead just had to jump into the role.
