Higurashi compared to Umineko and KnS I guess
This is probably not the right place to ask but still better than starting a reddit thread.
So I read Umineko and loved it. I liked Ange's angle in the story much more than the mind games and metanarrative.
After that I was looking at Higurashi but... All I see is little girls yapping? I mean the plot might be mindblowing but fuck me if I'm sitting through 100 hours of little girl humor and drama. It's even worse if they are unrealistically intelligent. Or the 1000 years old loli trope (Umineko is also guilty).
I will note that I read all of Kara no Shoujo after finishing Umineko and it just set a completely new bar for me. I finally found a real mature and grounded narrative in a VN. Compared to that, "haha, little girls do wacky stuff but WOOO ACTUALLY MURDERS AND MULTIVERSE GIGABRAIN STORY" doesn't sound very appealing.
I guess I'm just asking if Higurashi is still worth a shot? I mean try and sell me on Higurashi.
Hopefully someone with a healthy mind who read these VNs sees this thread.

Higurashi's chapters follow a similar cadence to the chapters of Umineko where the first four make up one arc and the last four serve as answer arcs to them. They are also similar in the way that each chapter starts slowly with slice of life sections to develop the characters and relationships before the main conflict gets going. These slice of life sections are probably what you are thinking of when writing your post but I think there's a good amount of suspense and horror to be found in the games to be worth playing them.
I think that your experience of Higurashi will be hampered by playing R07's games backwards. Umineko is ultimately a much better written game than it's predecessor. It also seems that you'd rather have a visual novel more focused on adult characters and realistic mystery elements given your praise for KnS so I think Higurashi will be disappointing for you in this regard (especially the final chapter).
You could give the series a try but if I had to guess you won't end up liking it as much as Umineko and KnS.
higurashi is on par with umineko
most of your doubts are a non-issue down the line believe me

also I might add that higurashi has way less mind fuck kind of story to it and is way more grounded than umineko. So if you are looking for a grounded narrative...

also the patch should have an option to remove all censorship and there are plenty of that. Huge topics are censored in the console releases vs the original release.

Read Rose Gun Days instead. It's by far my favorite 07 work.

Higurashi is pretty different from Umineko. You should just give the first chapter a shot and see if you like it. It's free. Unlike Umineko, it chooses to focus on far fewer characters and is way less murder mystery game like. Similar to Umineko, the first half is more horror and mystery, while the latter half is more melodrama. Personally, I prefer it and think it's overall much more consistent in quality, though Umineko definitely has higher peaks (but also lower lows)

If you liked Cowboy Bebop, you'll be over the moon with Rose Guns Days. It's hard to list everything I love about it. The world just sucks you in and the music/SFX keeps you there for long enough that the characters get you stuck reading the whole thing. It's probably in the top three VNs I've read, IMO. Has a really unique minigame that really helps the action scenes feel that much cooler and more immersive. Too much to list in one post while I'm still half asleep. Give it a try and it'll hook you, I promise.
