It is ultimately just an okay game. A 7.5 at best. While the first Hades is arguably a 9 or 9.5 I just feel so confused at the praise for the second game it's like they took all the worst aspects of the first game and shoved them into a new game. It is not what I was expecting it to be at all honestly. Melinoe is an okay character but a significant downgrade from Zagreus. She feels like a side character in her own game. Hecate feels like a massive downgrade in dialogue between the interactions you could have with Hades. Virtually all other side characters from what I have seen have been downgraded from the first game, even reoccurring characters. Combat is a massive downgrade it feels even more delayed than the first and in this game it seems you either run a meta build or you have a miserable 30 minute run where you die or still win but feel no satisfaction. To be honest, I didn't even finish this game. I stopped after 10 hours, meanwhile I put over 120 hours into the first game. What went so wrong?

I like Melinoe more than Zag. Melinoe's earnest attitude towards everything makes her very endearing. Zag is just reddit and Marvel quips: the character.

I've come to appreciate the gameplay of 2 after a hundred hours of it. Gameplay wise, I do think 2 is better.
Also, having 2 routes was pretty good. I love the Surface, the music, the enemies, the locations (well... Except the Rift. Yeah, fuck the rift). Love the Typhon fight, despite it being super easy after you git gud.

The rest... I prefer the first. The vibe, the characters, the pace. Zag is just a cool character, even ends up being the hero in the end of 2. I was kinda hoping Zag would be playable in 2. Missed that little nigga.
All in all, I liked it. I'm glad it was made.

Also, a small pet peeve. I fucking hate the how Hecate speaks. Maybe something about the cadence, I don't know. The only character I consider actually skipping the dialogue.

7.5 is 5.0 higher than what Hades 1 is

Hades 2 is worse because instead of dashing into enemies and blowing them to bits you are forced to dash away from them and keep circling around doing damage from range. And also cast is giga ass and should've been throwable by default.

I've done 400+ run in Hades 1, and 100+ runs in Hades 2, and Hades 2 is a strict upgrade in nearly all aspects.

And no, the removal of dash spam isn't a downgrade. When you consider all Hades 2's weapon aspects and builds, along with using cast correctly, it's a much closer-range game than Hades 1.

I think Hades 2 is much better but I hate the 4th act of the surface, full of visual noise, bullshit that deals a trillion damage, and Typhon himself is a pain in the ass if you have no damage

I played Hades 1 until almost 100% completion. I dropped 2 after witnessing the dogshit ending
Melinoe is sexy, but she's a complete nothingness as a protagonist. She's not witty, she is not fun, and by extension she makes every single NPC around her worse since she's not capable of fun banter unlike Zag.

Then the entire point of your game is SHIT. Zag shows up for 5 seconds and completely steals the show, adding insult to injury since he cucks Mel out of protagonist status completely, immediately followed by the most dour family "reunion" and Mel immediately fucking off back to the crossroads. Was it written by the same people as 1? This is such a hilarious narrative downgrade it's just insane.

Not to mention i didn't really vibe with any weapon but jetpack. All of them feel samey as fuck mechanically.

I think the gameplay in 2 blows the gameplay in 1 out of the water

I could understand the praise either but turns out every faggot maxed out their boons and gear during the easy early access and steamrolled through the game like they were on god mode.
After hacking resources and buying every upgrade I beat the whole game in 2 days and it was okay, felt exactly like hades 1 except I skipped more dialogues.
I pity the fools who had to grind boring early game on full release like a fucking retard
