should one play this game?
Anonymous No.723923760 [Report] >>723924073 >>723937295
Fuck no! It's unfinished, Westoid-driven UE5 jank.
Play ONLY the original STALKER trilogy.

I've been meaning to replay it, but apparently update 1.7 and an engine update are coming soon, so I'm waiting. I've been playing Radiophobia 3 in the meantime.

>Stalker without A-Life
>B-But they FIXED it!...I mean they didn't actually fix it but they claimed they did!
>So stalker without A-Life...
Anonymous No.723925018 [Report] >>723925116
Does it have A-life yet? Or does shit still just randomly spawn in 50 metres from player position? I played it on release and wondered why there were no binoculars, then I realised it's because there's nothing to see. The zone is completely empty until the player walks into range for things to spawn

TXR not only uses PS2 and 3 era assets (which helps a ton), but the devs also seem to use literal Forward Rendering mode... OR disabled Nanite and Lumen completely... which helps a ton.

>Does it have A-life yet?
No. It's all AI spawn bubbles, and basic shit like binocs and NVGs are still missing. It's literally a Westoid Far Cry knockoff.

Played on release and got ambushed by a pack of dogs that spawned in 30 metres from my position. Every time I got onto a piece of terrain where they couldn't hit me they all in synch ran beyond the nearest shot blocker

Played a lot of it at launch and had some fun, despite it being jank. Then one of the story missions just completely bugged out at the start and I couldn't progress anymore. Haven't gone back to it since.

Those of you who have played it, is it at least worth pirating? Or should I just do another unmodded playthrough of the first game?
Anonymous No.723932334 [Report] >>723932993

Look at this thread and the kinds of posts it has. Now ask yourself if you truly, honestly believe you will get an objective and non biased opinion on this place.
For what its worth I don't think one pirated playthrough will be bad if you go in to see the story, its pretty much a continuation of how the world would react to The Zone being a thing and attempt to "civilize" and control it. The main character literally has no reason to be there or do what he does and will sometimes just be a mindless yes man so the story can progress, but I think the overall themes and characters that aren't the player were handled well.

if you want more of the zone you should just play anomaly. stalker 2 is abysmal dogshit that will never be fixed

Really, I and OP shouldn't even ask. Downloading is quick and easy these days, If I had downloaded a copy instead of asking, I'd be playing already.

First, let's pirate some hecking chornobyls, and then we'll see about the meme mod that everyone keeps talking about. Or maybe I'll try AMK again, maybe this time NPCs won't be instagibbed by unhelpfully spawned anomalies.

Yes and no. Look at the regular enemies in the gaming footage and know how bad it looks in a way. Just really bland and they are only charging $60 instead of $70 because they aren’t putting all the effort in to it, not from the kindness of their own hearts. lol don’t let them trick you.

I got the game during 1.5 patch, added some mods like better balistics, longer days, better death animations, and I had a lot of fun with it. I stopped playing around 110 hours and am about halfway through the main campaign.
Now I'm waiting for update 1.7 to hop back on.

It will be good in a year. I beat it 3 days ago for the first time. There are a lot of good fundamental design decisions (puzzles for stashes, guns feel good, effective artifacts, good story with choice and consequence).
Optimization is still pretty fucking ass and the AI can be irritating with shooting you with 100% accuracy at all ranges and through 70 bushes.

But does it have A-life? Are there binoculars? If I look out at the zone from an elevated position will I see stalkers and mutants roaming around and interacting with each other? Or is it just an empty expanse of uninteresting bullshit with no reason to explore? If I look at a tower through my scoped rifle and see it's empty will it stay that way when I get within 50 metres of it? Or will some dickhead functionally indistinguishable from every other npc spawn in there and start sniping at me with perfect awareness despite my careful use of cover?
