The Steam Deck 2 will be the PlayStation 2 of the 10th gen.
Proton 10 makes games run better than on Windows.

Ok so real shit here
If i already have a PC what would you say to convince me to buy a steam deck?

Except for the fact that literally every single popular game in the mainstream right now is Windows exclusive thanks to anticheat. Normies don't give a shit about your "omg 32% more fps and no spyware!!" shit. They just want to play new game, and if new game doesn't work on Linux then Linux is shit.
This simple fact ensures the Steam Deck will forever be a niche product.

If you can think of any scenario where you would enjoy having the PC be portable, then get a steam deck.
Otherwise don't get one.

Nothing unless you like playing on your bed.

Most cheap PC can play 8th gen games like witcher 3 on good settings. Its not like power was ever the issue with modern gaming. Modern games are shit anyways. The last decent gaming year was 2015.

The future of gaming is phones not a shit deck.

Hentai games, visual novels, mods, emulation, etc, all on the go.

Play games on your bed, couch, outside, wherever. If you never leave your room then don't bother.

The library is gonna be full of licensed trash and people are only going to buy it because it plays DVDs?

>The future of gaming is phones
App stores on both Android and iPhone are ridiculously locked down. iPhones can't even download apps that use JIT because Apple are control freaks, good luck sideloading games like you can on PC. The "games" on mobile are either shitty gacha gambling games, crosswords for normies with 10 billion ad popups, or Flappy Bird shit. Nobody ports their games to phones except rare cases like RE4R.

We thought phones would be the future of gaming 15 years and now look where we are. Ironically the only actual use phones have as gaming devices nowadays is through streaming from GeForce Now.

Nothing really. Steam Deck is about on par with a cheap sub 1000 bucks gaming laptop from 2020.

Proton 10 has massive compatibility issues with older shit. New Vegas, for example runs significantly worse with 10 than 9.

Damn that sucks since you can't pick and chose proton version per game.

Should I buy a Steam Deck 2?
I have a 4070 but I'm always at a do-nothing job where my coworker brings his Switch.

It's most likely using a custom cutdown Medusa Point which is coming out at the end of next year, so most likely early 2027. Valve doesn't care about power and Medusa Halo Mini would be the successor to the Z2E meaning handhelds using that will be very expensive. Valve just wants performance, efficiency, and affordability.

I'm all for proton and the steam deck. Not because I'm a pc gaymer (I'm a full console pleb and prefer 30fps) but because I hate windows with every fiber of my being.

Yep. Just b cause a chip comes out doesn't m wn it won't take longer to manufacture. We already saw that with nintendos partnership with Nvidia.
