So uhh, when does this get hard? Elden Ring thread
I just finished all of Liurnia and well, this game has not lived up to the difficulty i've heard you guys talk about so far...I think I died to Margit 10 times and nothing else even has come close. This is my first Souls game as well I mostly play Monster Hunter.

The key is a level 1 run where you only use your dick to play.

the game will get hard around the capital and you may get walled at the fire giant depending on your build. Just play solo and with npc summons.

Focus on getting immersed and enjoying the journey. I wish I could play it for the first time again.

If you didnt have fun, you ddint beat the game
Anonymous No.723936465 [Report]
why are you coming online to boast about the game being easy when you died 10 times to the first major boss? Do you not think that powergap might widen the further you get? Do you think youre some kind of savant better than everyone else for beating the first boss "eventually"? "Liurnia" isnt even a major area its a literal marshland with barely anything of relevance in it. Just play the game or dont who gives a shit u dumb bitch.

Like all souls games, your struggles are as much tied to your playstyle as your skill.
What are you rolling?

Post build and items, aka the status screen
And to answer your question, the DLC is quite challenging

Make sure your fashion is good for nice screenshots and cinematic, most of your defence is gonna be from talismans

How would I do a build around blocking? Starting with a brass shield and going from there, do I just stick to straight swords and pump vit for more equip load as I get heavier armor? I've beaten the game with all kinds of builds but I just duno how you do damage without main handing a great sword.

margit is the hardest boss out of everything in Limgrave, weeping penisula, and Liurnia. Also if you use summons you are a retard for complaining its not hard because summons is the tourist/game journalist mode.

The main draw of blocking builds is guard counters.
Get yourself a great shield of some kind for that deflect animation and pretty much just strong attack whenever you get a block.

Big weapons do fine with it, curved swords and great curves swords have very fast guard counter animations.

use tower shield, get some stamina, do guard counters. use a poke weapon for bitchmade poke build, or use a straight sword or use w/e its actually not a big deal.
>I just duno how you do damage without main handing a great sword.
just about all weapons do good DPS at endgame, even daggers.

The way defences/damage work means that your weapon will fall behind earlier if you neglect upgrading it if it is a smaller weapon because they have less damage per swing so get fucked over by relative high flat damage reduction. ie, area is balanced around +9 weapon, your +6 claymore will still do OK, but your +6 dagger will feel like an absolute slog, you need to get it to +9 for it to be OK again. straight swords and daggers are probably higher DPS than great weapons around endgame though. But it can also be dramatically effected by damage type, some bosses are very strong vs slash and weak to strike or w/e.

I got stuck on Godskin Duo my first playthrough. Then final boss. Then expansion final boss.

barricade shield is good, you get it from a night boss in weeping peninsula.

also consider putting "no skill" on a shield and using weapon art on mainhand weapon isntead. if you use a tower shield then barricade shield isnt that big of a deal unless you are doing a poke build i guess.

Yea, the "No-Skill" ash of war in the shack close to stormveil, talk to the guy with a claymore and armor, he sells it.
It basically lets you use your weapon skill instead of the Sheild skill when you press L2

Endurance is your best friend, you'll want a shield with 65-70% guard boost or more and 100% physical negation or whatever element is relevant to a boss fight.
Talisman wise there's only two specific choices:
>Two Headed Turtle Talisman
You'll want this for Stamina regen
>Curved Sword Talisman
Vital for boosting your guard counter damage
The Greatshield Talisman is not really worth it unless you want to play Fashion souls and salvage the less useful shields with it, same with the Pearl Shied Talisman, shield grease is free and helps more than either of these will ever do.
If you're looking for weapons that have good 1H guard counters you'll want to consider most piercing weapons, spears in particular have an excellent guard counter and so does the Sword Spear since despite being a great thrusting sword it uses the Spear's guard counter, straight swords are not bad either, maces, axes and surprisingly martial arts have all good guard counters.
If you want to use spells, Scholar's Shield is shield grease on crack, extremely good on the Carian Thrusting Shield especially if you really want to focus on guarding since that bonus does apply to the guard points of a Thrusting shield's unique ash of war or two handed attacks.

If you want to work around weapon blocking and not use a shield then things get more interesting as there's weapons that are specifically built for weapon blocking like the Curseblade Cirque which can deal immense guard counter damage but you'll really want to rely on the Deflecting Hard Tear in that case.

Barricade Shield is good but some argue it's too broken because it will pretty much make your GS Havel's tier for a few seconds.
There is also vow of the indomitable which is basically just an invincibility frame roll without moving.

Honestly just either no-skill so you can make use of your main hand WA or shield bash for some extra chad energy.

Pick a great shield, level it up to increase guard boost. Gonna want 40 endurance at least for end game. Royal Guards resolve is your best friend.
Maxed out Banished knight shield gets the same guard boost as vanilla great shields if you want something light.

I use summons, I use a map to show me where all the flask upgrades and weapon stones are. The game is easy.

Mountain top and consecrated snow field can be bullshit. So is the halig tree but that's optional. The early game is toughest because you have a very small toolkit, but once youve beefed on vigor and got a few spells under your belt, thing's get pretty simple, it's just a matter of not rushing in like a retard

The game will never get hard as long as you level vigor
