The mach speed stuff is a learning curve. You need to learn how it works, or you’ll die. Granted, they should have given a tutorial on it, but then again, most sonic games dont give you tutorials on bullshit like that. They just throw you in and make you do it, often times replaying large sections just for another opportunity to fail. You may find it hard, but I find later blue sphere special stages and the later half pipe special stages to be hard (ufo is oddly enough really easy for me). I find the mach speed stages to be easy.
All I can say is there is a zen to most of the “bullshit” deaths. A lot of it is letting go and not moving the stick, or making on slight adjustments but not panicky fidgeting ones. I can get S ranks and deathless runs on pretty much every action stage in the game and my twitch reflexes aren’t even that good.
