This is the most perfectly mid game I have ever played in my life. I was not disappointed or bored at any point, and I was also not impressed or excited. The whole length of the game I was locked in having a reasonably good time. Consistent high 6 low 7 beginning to end, would recommend. Thematically relevant this time of year, too.

The atmosphere and voice acting are very good. The very idea of what the game is, however, is very intriguing. The battle system is cucked and I had to consult a guide several times not knowing where to go or what to do by overlooking something simple. But I'm glad I played it.

Props to Shadow Hearts for hitting you with that ending. Most jrpgs have the villain swear its important that they do what they do, but you never actually see it. Shadow Hearts does the same shit, smacks you with accepting the world you fought for, then taking your waifu back to Zurich or some shit to reunite with her family. She gave up most of her lifespan for you though so she doesn't have long but she's going to spend the rest of the short time she has left reuniting with her parents and introducing her husbando to them, living out the time she has left in happiness.
She dies in Yuri's arms on the train ride home. Then they hit you with the a real-life photo of the Austria-Hungary occupying Serbia, revealing the war the villain saw coming was WWI and everything he warned you about came to pass a mere 3 months after your waifu died.

Correct. but 99% of the game is battles. It takes an hour just to explore a couple of rooms because of the amount of battles, and every single move that gets made in battles requires a loading time.

I liked this and still haven't been able to get into Shadow Hearts 1 after three tries.
I also accidentally played it on like 102% speed or something without noticing though, which effected my experience for sure especially with the OST
