Alright, I pirated the Deluxe Version of this (even though I bought the actual main game. You're only getting my other 10 bucks if you deliver on good choices and consequences by the end, Ad Hoc :^3 I want multiple possible endings with completely different consequences, don't disappoint me. It has that too, though. First, there's scenes where you get asked what to do, and those depends on a simple stat check. So for example, you can "Chase after the villain" and if your hero has mobility 3 or more, they automatically win.

And then there's also literal character-specific options in certain decisions, such as Invisigal's invisibility bypassing any skill checks in an infiltration mission and giving an automatic win.

The dispatch concept gameplay and having a roster of misfits with stats and abilities like XCOM combined is fun.
I remember years and years ago playing This is The Police that had a more simpler dispatch system and gameplay. This one actually has more with the hacking/CTE mini games.

It's a nice strategy/choose your own adventure type game concept. Being an authority in charge of catching criminals leads to a lot of scenarios you can add consequences or weight too. Lot of options for a storyline toeing between corruption/paladin law bringer.

That said, the writing execution on this one feels all over the place. Not good. It's like they were writing to sell it to children but then they also wanted to hang full dong and be crude.
There's adult swim shows with better writing than the first two episodes.

I thought it was implied the phoenix team had commuted sentences in exchange for becoming heroes. None of them have really talked about an urge to help people or do good, I always got the impression it was part of a rehabilitation program and if they fucked up they get thrown back into prison to server a longer sentence.
