Well Xbox would've been a non-factor
Nintendo would deny it for being a non-Jrpg story game. Astral Chain is the only exception in years that comes to mind with them seeking a 3rd party for something like that.
Sony are fuckfaces but this IP didn't really pull numbers, if anything it's a miracle we got a 2nd game at all. Clearly it got as many entries as it deserved in the free market's eyes. Excepting a 3rd is just coping, even if the studio hadn't closed down.

Plus, Nintendo is brimming with multiple 1st party teams, if any of them cared at all for a game such as this, they'd be doing a new IP action-adventure comfy campaign story game with female protag erect nipples. But they aren't. Not sure why 90% of people repeat this agenda of GR being a Nintendo IP.

It's probably just the only timeline where people can imagine that GR wasn't nearly guranteed to be a dead IP. As a Nintendo IP. I'm not saying I agree with it necessarily, but I do understand it. Especially if it were released earlier somehow. Today's Nintendo would probably leave it as dead as the rest. Otherwise what was the outlook? A niche PC title with maybe a cult following? Might have done okay. Ironically it probably would have simultaneously retained it's online features for GR2 while also making less money than it did as a Sony exclusive. It just hasn't been a good time in the industry to release a game like GR for a very long time, and that is becoming more and more the case every day unfortunately. No multiplayer for player retention? No microtransaction squeeze? Mostly self contained and conclusive story? Yep, it's fucked. Literally too good for this gay world we live in.

Oh well, i am slowly but surely building up what i lost and then some. I am thinking of getting Gravity Rush for Vita to get that original experience, i am also thinking of trying to refund the PS4 version i got digitally so i can get a physical version. Too bad PS4 games aren't sold in stores anymore and that i'd have to buy from online shopping for that one.
I regret not buying PS4 games for my PS5 when i had the chance as well...

the bloom was in the original to cover up bad textures. the textures on the right objectively look better. its the left, at a higher res with an additional texturing that i know you are going to bad faith claim ruins everything.
it also adds dynamic shadows which the original didnt have.

I honestly wonder how much better it would have done on PS3 considering experimental games didn't do well on that console either.
Biggest PS3 hit that wasn't a realistic looking game was LittleBigPlanet.
Seriously, i looked at the best selling PS3 games and it's clear that the console's audience leaned heavy to what looked real, the only games with unique art styles that sold on PS3 were LittleBig Planet 1 & 2, Ni No Kuni, Ratchet & Clank and Valkyria Chronicles. Everything else is gritty realism.

Gravity rush is a 5/10 game elevated to 7/10 because of the extremely charming setting, music, and characters.

I love it! But it's just very basic combat waves ad infinitum. The main appeal of shifting gravity is barely used to it's potential.

I would have liked if it put more emphasis on platforming and traversal, so you actually have meaningful exploration stuff between the combat waves. If the city was a big tangled 3D maze where you had to carefully plan your route and shift gravity to get around in novel ways, that would be so kino.... Instead, you can just fly over and under everything mindlessly.

It was the era still deep in the graphics race, the push towards 'realism'. Sadly too many remained in that realm and now a majority of bigger titles all look the same which is quite boring.

First of all, checked. Nice trips.
>hold on. why the fuck didnt sony explode this IP into a massive gacha whale series or something?
Gacha is frowned upon, basically no better than the live services Sony tried to shove down everyone's throat this generation. And Gravity rush has so few characters to work with that using them for a gacha would be very limiting unless Sony tries to create and shoe horn in new characters every month and at that point it just wouldn't be Gravity Rush anymore, in fact turning it into a gacha would make it no longer Gravity Rush, i have no idea how they could even pull that off.
>Was it really worth incinerating their entire catalogue to make 2 more Horizon and God of War games then fizzle out into fucking nothing as a creative house?
Turns out Sony had more planned, they were just all live service games that all got cancelled. Apparently the former PlayStation CEO thought live service was the future and got every single Sony studio to develop a live service game and even bought out Bungie to help them with their new live service initiative.
After Concord was the biggest flop of all time they ended up cancelling over 12 live servce games that every one of their studios were working on, this includes a live service God of War, a live service Last Of Us (Made from TLOU2's multiplayer that they cut from the game to turn it into a live service.) and a Twisted Metal live service that would have released to coincide with the new TV show. >cute likable main character
>fantastical world
>excellent supporting cast
and then
>story beats all over the place and paced as a episodic slice of life venture at the cost of backloading all the interesting shit to the last second in the most unsatisfying way possible or outright refusing to explain anything
>advertise raven as playable only for her to be relegated to a small section at the end credits, delvool trench where you might as well play with kat anyways, and a short dlc that serves only to explain how the lost children got back to the city
>sony cutting online features locking you out of exclusive rewards for treasure hunts just under a year after launch
Massively squandered opportunity and kat being told offscreen that she needs to sacrifice herself to eat the void was retarded

ShadPS4 progress has basically halted this year honestly. Definitely the Bloodborne emulator.

this is what was interesting about the whole "Gravity Queen" contrivance, but the first game just sort of does a random episode about it then ends and the sequel does a rando marc then ends.

This is some minor SaGa/Breath of Fire type shit and it just gets dropped.

I don't know what to say, I played rainmaker's hack and copied the sys files for the missing text and the game was playable start to finish that way.

You're in the wrong fucking entertainment industry then, buddy. Point of comparison and iteration is so baked into video game discussion the only real descriptive genre names we have in modern times are references to what earlier titles they're ripping off the most.

I fault the 90s console wars for this mentality.
You're also wrong about what you said about genres as the majority of genres are named after what they are, not after what came before them.
FPS, TPS, RPG, TRPG, SRPG, fighter, 2D fighter, 3D fighter, platform fighter, party, card, simulation, life simulation, action adventure, MOBA, MMO, strategy, real time stradegy, Horror, survival horror, visual novel, puzzle, platformer, 2D platformer, 3D platformer, racing, kart racer, stealth etc, etc, etc.
Anonymous No.724031757 [Report]
>>724030543
I said that the derivative names are the only descriptive ones, not that they're the majority. To prove my point,
>FPS
Originally called "doom-clones"
>RPG
Not actually defined by "playing a role" like people shitpost, but because they ripped off mechanics from existing pen and paper roleplaying games and just digitized them
>fighter
Street fucking fighter and its million clones
>party
Show me a game that labeled itself a party game before Mario Party and I might concede this one
>card
wow your game has cards, that totally is descriptive as to what kind of experience you'll have, and you won't have to deal with the difference between Re:Chain of memories and fucking Balatro
>simulation
I could probably argue that these got their name from the first games of the genre literally calling themselves simulators, but I'm not going to be that pedantic, because...

>action adventure
This is literally the most meaningless genre in the history of all genres, the equivalent of saying "stuff happens in this game". Action and Adventure separately used to mean something in the early days, but you don't see them by themselves anymore, do you? The fact that you even considered having this on a list of what's supposed to be descriptive genres tells me you literally just grabbed this from wikipedia or something and removed the obvious reference ones
>MOBA
originally called dota-likes
>strategy
padding the list, unless there's some strategy game that's somehow not turn-based or real time
>horror
accurate as a vibes-based genre, which is in line with how other forms of media do it, which makes it stand out against everything else in the list, and also doesn't describe what you do in the game except maybe be scared
>visual novel
technically a point against me because instead of ripping off a specific title it's just ripping off a different medium, see also racing and sports
Anonymous No.724032719 [Report]
>>724030543
>platformer
actually one of the descriptive ones from early times that stuck around, basically the most video game-ass genre to exist
>puzzle
Like platformer, but vaguer in the mechanisms of how you actually play it
>kart racer
I sure as fuck can tell you they weren't called that until Mario Kart
>stealth
yeah, sure, you got me on that one. It's a game where you need to sneak around, that's both descriptive and mechanical

But also, the fact that half that list is literally just one of the existing genres I mentioned but with an extra specification or combination with another genre means that both those sub-genres are obviously derivative, and also that the umbrella genre is too vague to be able to accurately describe all games in it without derivations or comparison
