>Better sound design
Oh come the fuck on, you piece of shit. The prison is nowhere near as scary because of the sound design paling in comparison to the original.

Anyways, I felt like the one aspect handled a bit better is very likely the Lakeview Hotel. Maybe. It feels a bit more like a place than in the original right before the final hall to the end of the game (in which I feel the original does much better. The fact of the matter is that Maria's VA is never going to be able to compete with the OG's and it sucks).

There are portions of the hotel which are interesting, I guess, but they're reserved more towards the end. Mary gets a bit of love in the gameplay portions but obviously suffers in the cinematics. There's always just kind of a compromise to everything I consider to be an "improvement" for the reimagining. I like that James is more relatable but I also like James being a fucking weirdo. There's not really every a moment where I think the remake as superior but just a reimagining.

Voice acting, cutscenes, and gameplay.
Unlike the RE4 remake I actually watch the cutscenes on replays of SH2 remake.
James sounds like the exhausted late 20's man he is and Angela sounds like speaking physically hurts her. Eddie actually sounds threatening instead of straight up comedic, and James calling him crazy really shows off how much he looks down on him.
It's a good remake, I just wish they weren't too faithful with it mechanically. You are flush with ammo and healing just like in all the original SH games, 4 was my favorite because the inventory system added the intensity the series was missing. Especially on hard which can get seriously stressful. Hard mode in OG SH2 is complete garbage that was hardly playtested. Hard in the remake is almost like how challenging i like my survival horrors to be, but RE2 remake on hardcore was more what I was expecting.

The thing is that faggots like you are never going to be satisfied with a remake because you microanalyze the shit out of every tiny little detail with the mindset that the original is better anyway, and then you are shocked you don't like the remake. Remakes aren't being made for you fags, becuase they know literally nothing will ever satisfy you, and your opinion is literally worthless to neurotypical people.

I think it's vastly inferior to the original especially in presentation and how actually unnerving and scary it is, however I can give 5:

1. Enemies resurrecting while they twitch and snap into place is really unnerving and cooler than wandering respawns.

2. The mannequin sound effects are a lot better, a lot more feminine sounding gasps and moaning, plus the rattlesnake type noise they sometimes make when twitching just before striking is really neat and compliments the overall snake like way they lunge and strike in general. Shame the sound mixing in game is super diarrhea and you can't fucking hear it.

3. The prison now actually has the wall and ceiling crawling spider mannequins which were cut from the original game due to time constraints. They are pretty annoying but hey, they are there now.

4. The blood dripping off of wounded monsters and the smear effect when a Lying Figure crawls through it's own spray and/or blood is a really neat visual.

5. The entire running up towards the town itself, except for Angela in the graveyard, the red square in the well (in the original you hear it before you see it, in the remake you don't hear it until you are right there) and the forest part (the weird unnerving whipping noises you heard in the original have been replaced with generic walking on branches sound effects) is done really well. The cornfield and the abandoned auto shop were creepy as shit.

Everything else is worse, and I do mean everything.

Gameplay. That's literally it
But even though the combat is better there's no justification for the amount of enemies in the game
The otherworld was also changed for the worse, probably because of the shitty movie. Then you have the Lakeview Hotel, which was pretty faithful, meaning they know SH2 isn't about rust and decided to change it anyway. Fucking hacks

Laura is more likeable
Anonymous No.724007663 [Report]
I guess graphics from a technical point of view?
I don't really like how any of the new characters look except for James, though.
They made Angela look too normal instead of gaunt and pale with dark eye bags and dark lips, and with an unhinged aura. NuAngela is just a "sad teen" instead of "I've been raped my entire life".
NuEddie tries too hard to make him look like a creepy slob. They try to go for a "ooooh he is so scary and such a fat slob! Look at him eating icecream with his own bare hands!" while the OG Eddie was just an aloof guy whose descent into madness was seen through the game.
They even changed the model from a weird naked humanoid in the room you meet him to a normal looking person with jeans and shoes and a sweater.
You have OG Eddie vomiting in the bathroom like a normal person and just normally saying "he was like that when I got here" and keeps on vomiting. NuEddie starts panicking and almost crying.
OG Eddie is just chilling with Laura normally in the well-lit bowling alley eating pizza like a normal person, being nice to the snotty brat.
NuEddie is being a bit mean to Laura in the theater by making fun of her and he is sitting in a dark theater staring at an empty screen eating icecream out of his hand.
It's just full of mischaracterizations in order to have a more "Hollywood" approach.

It removes the camp of the game which was a big part of SH1, 2, 3 and 4.

Watch a David Lynch movie. The stilted, awkward delivery is part of the whole "dream" atmosphere. Going with more cinematic voice acting in the remake is a soul downgrade.

I'll say this: I think nu-James does a good job at sounding depressed and miserable (the conversation when he mentions to Maria that his wife used to play piano is a great example of this, he sounds like he barely wants to talk to her at all and is just trying to force his way through the conversation) but then he acts too normal when interacting with others. When he speaks to Angela and Eddie he completely drops the spaced out depressed tone in his voice and just sounds like a normal guy, might just be bad voice directing in general.

>stilted, awkward delivery
This such a retarded meme. James's delivery have nothing to do with how Fred or Betty are played.
It's just awkwardly delivered. Its not intentional. Its just by product of game dierctors being esl. This didn't happen to Horgan, who never falls into this valley of inappropriate enunciations James's actor wallows in.

With what? With retroactive cope about why none of the voice actors were given directions and any actual good voice acting is purely accidental?
All of his delivery is just bad. I don't give a shit about how they are now pretending that they had the clothes on, all along since they can sit on laurels. Comparing that garabge acting to any of the two "dream" movies Lynch made is fucking psuede /v/ autism. You can compare it to Inland Empire if you want. The movie that had no script and with every day of filming being whatever Lynch felt like doing. But it's not a good look in that case.

>>724009547
Oh yes, Lost Highway is clear inspiration, the premise is basically identical just diffrent settings, plus Jacob's Ladder but pretending any of these actors have same delivery is pure cope and insanity.
This is simply the bar that existed back then. The first SH was not a marvel of performance either, I don't see anyone there claiming that Gillespie's inappropriate exclamations during her dialouge is not just bad direction where they told her to act haughty and left it at the level of a Queen from Snow White.

Gameplay although I was seemingly more frustrated with it than the clunky OG
Eddie's fight was a substantial upgrade from the original. In fact, I think Eddie was the highlight of it all (no disrespect to David Schaufele).
And uh, I guess graphics strictly speaking about polygon count but the art direction during the cutscenes was not on par with the original.
