Monitor for dark games
What technology is best for playing games with dark environments? some of my older games are unplayable in dark sections and I can’t see shit. I realized these were all made with CRT screens in mind. So what do I get now?

OLEDs have some of the deepest blacks on modern flat screen tech, theyre pricey though.

I tried playing Thief 1 on a standard IPS display on a sunny day, it was morning. It did not go well.

OLED.
If you somehow still don't own an OLED screen, you are cucking yourself. Your life is literally an NTR doujin playing real time if you don't have an OLED screen.

You can tell its the same schizos making these threads because they all are obsessed with the cheapest budget LCD panels from 2003-2010.

I just don’t know anything about the topic so made a thread. I dont keep up with tech shit because I think it’s gay consoomerism and trends usually but as I mentioned in my OP there were games I got softlocked in because I couldn’t navigate or see where I was going because the backlit screen (I assume) was what made everything in dark environments look like one same value or shade of black instead of being able to make out forms and shapes or paths to walk through. It was some budget smart TV I don’t know what technology it used. Probably some 2018 model. looked fine and good enough for anything else I played except dark environments.

How much more is OLED vs a similar tier of other technologies? Like a mid range one? I may not even buy one myself for a while but I’m also asking for my friend because he just bought stalker 2 for his pc, and he couldn’t see shit. Reminded me of my issue before I experienced and wanted to make the thread.

Plasmas are superior to everything.
They have the black levels/contrast of OLED but absolutely NONE of the motion blur.
Plus they cost a fraction of the amount compared to OLED.

OLED is a fucking meme.

I have a QLED 50' TV and the colours are deeper but by default it's bright as hell but the dark areas are actually dark.
OLED TVs are 1000+ bucks. PCfags play on small screens so it's cheaper.

How do I find an OLED that doesn't have horrendous banding? Both sets I've owned cannot handle gradients at all.

What's the timeline of MicroLED, it's my only hope since they killed Dual Layer LCD in the cradle with EU environmental regulations

That's some terrible brightness. To compensate, lower it on the LCD and raise it in your GPU drivers instead. It likely won't match the CRT, but it shouldn't look as bad.
