>What’s Inside: Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition: Includes the full game (PC digital code)

Completely missing the fucking point of a collectors edition. What the fuck is the point of a big box when there's no bluray disc inside and its not even a remaster of the game? Its just a digital code.
People bought collectors editions because you got a copy of the game in the form of a disc and you got all the cool shit with it.

Physical is dead on all gaming platforms. Even the platforms like playstation and xbox no longer do physical game releases or have even made a promise.

So now the only way you can physically own your games is on PC, pirating the games and burning them to bluray.

Why are companies acting like bluray readers no longer exist? Really what it is with them, EVERYONE WANTS PHYSICAL DISCS RELEASE WE DONT WANT DIGITAL. T

They are so fucking cheap and jewed that they wont put money into a real collectors edition with a disc because they are greedy.

Pic related is the original collectors edition for PC, It came with a disc.

Bluray is slow (12x is 54MB/s, but you'll only get that on the outer ring on a good day) and a point of failure. Meanwhile, I can install New Vegas in a few seconds off Steam, and Steam will likely outlive me (and I'm not even a russian about to an hero over CS2 skin devaluation).

A digital code which isnt even a remastered version of the game, just the same ultimate edition.

Steam set the precedent for all over gaming and fucked everyone over. Xbox and playstation now are digital only or 20gb updates with no 1.0 discs if it is physical.
Now nintenjew is doing it with their game key carts. They are betraying consumers and losing customers. The gamepass price hike was the last straw for many.

The only thing you can fucking do is build a good gaming PC, pirate your games and burn them to bluray, and buy an inkjet printer, paper cutter, bluray cases and make your own game collection with photoshop. Its only .60 cents a game so fuck companies. Here's a mock bluray cover art case I made but I think a logo would look better than text of the game.

Unless your internet is gigabit like 150mb/s its not going to be faster. The average internet speed in an average suburb in america is 30mb/s. This is just cope for game companies like microsoft, sony, nintenjew so they dont have to spend money on bluray and physical box releases.

Most games on steam are 10gb on average. So thats a load time of 3-4 minutes on average to get it on your PC and unpacked.

You can compress a game in a .zip and it transfers fast off the disc within 3 minutes and most games are not 50+gb, only certain triple A games which are few.

IDK man should've just got a PC and pirated and burned the games. At least it's actually physical and you own them.

Though I still own a xbox 360 and a PS4 with the games I have for it I will never buy a modern console.

The xbox one was my signal to not buy instead I bought a gaming PC

Ok well good for you that you have 2 gigabit internet and $170 to spend each month on internet, if you live in america.

Still the average in north america for internet speed is like 25-40mb/s and still costs people $80-100 a month. Bluray is still faster and its a cope for companies that dont want to release physical 1.0 discs.

Which is why I will never buy a modern console and I'm not buying the switch 2, last consoles I bought were the original 3DS, xbox 360 and PS4, that's it. Never buying a console again

Also no I don't use steam to buy games, I pirate. my game library is less than 25 games and its mostly multiplayer one like gmod, squad, fallout 76 etc things that cant be played offline.

The vast Majority of people don't have optical drives on their PC's, not that it matters because most people interested in buying this has probably owned the game on steam/gog for years. It often goes on sale for like $5 and even right now it's on Prime gaming for free. My point being, the codes are going to go to waste anyways.

>But what about a console edition
That would make more sense, but it seems this is PC only, probably because Bethesda is too lazy to validate the game for the newer consoles, or whatever other steps are necessary to release it.

Well its either keep it simple or do a whole design that takes 5x as long. I want to keep things uniform and simple. I mean you could get more creative and do like graphic boxes with screen shots on the back but I think its tacky especially when these aren't official releases. indies arent released physically in case form. I think outer wilds is one of the few and maybe hollow knight.

I like the simple design like it would be in your steam library except its on a shelf, just the game art and logo.

People had optical DVD drives before and it was a mass widespread use of discs, what changed?

There's no reason why bluray drives arent a thing on PC, except that companies are lazy and gaming companies forced people to digital most notably steam. If they would've kept releasing discs they would still be popular, it was a decision out of greed not necessity.

They herded everyone into digital and I never approved of this. I never wanted digital. I never wanted to own nothing and be happy. Luckily the consoles I do own I own the physical games like my xbox 360, PS4 which are modded and the rest of the systems like my 3DS, gamecube, SNES, N64 I have the roms stored on bluray discs. But most of my physical game cases over 1000+ are indie PC games that never got a physical release. I did it all myself because they sure as hell won't. I had a picture of a factorio custom case I made it looks really good. I need to find it real quick I posted it on /v/

That was microsharts intention all along. to make people sign up for gamepass, use their xbox store, get into their ecosystem and when everyones in raise the prices so they have buyers remorse. Sure some people will sell their xbox and some people will sell their games. Some people will stop using that platform all together but they won. thats why physical games are important. No reason steam wont do this either, the sales have been dry and the only thing keeping people from revolting against steam is at least they let you play offline and they give you the game files
Anonymous No.724028197 [Report]
>>724025657
>There's no reason why bluray drives arent a thing on PC
Sure there is,
A. The Ecosystem is and has always been a mess, just try playing blurays on a PC, it's a fucking nighrmare because guess what, they don't just play, you need super special software.
B. It's way easier to just get things streaming or download Rips of the bluray content.

I know you're going to tell me how much of a retarded baby you are and how much you love discs, but the majority of the population does not, because we moved on, and you do not matter, your opinion is sadly small and irrelevant, just like you.

Bluray drives never really went down in price, and the format is such DRM hell that even if you have a drive you can't just fire up your favorite media player to watch a movie, so video games would be the sole use case. At least that was the case back when it would've mattered, before people just decided to go "fuck optical". No idea how it is now.
And speaking of DRM, around the late 00s when physical was dying on PC the games were riddled with godawful DRM that killed the point of buying physical. Remember mandatory online activations, limited to 5 times ever (including reinstalls of Windows or hardware changes) until your disc becomes useless and you have to crack the game to play it?
