graphics don't need to look better than what we had 10 years ago.

Cool it with the antisemitic remarks.

That's good because we dont have that, despite needing pc's that are 10 times more powerful with DLSS and frame gen enabled.

mad max was a pretty game but man that gameplay was pretty forgettable outside the cars

Yeah they do. And they need to perform better.
There has been some great stuff, that was downgraded. Someone's bad taste and decisions took truly impressive and made them nothing special or even bad.
Crysis, Witcher 3, The Division, Rainbow 6 Patriots
Even the devs of Max Max seems like they did some damage to Rage 2, it looks oj, it has problems with shadows, plays well, but ugly characters. They didn't seem to try to make the best they could.

The Division turned out great on Xbox1, with 12 bit colour enabled. I haven't played Seige, but it looked like it didn't. Cryssi was a massive disappontment. Previews were good bushwalking, making it look good. DX9 vs DX10 video showed the later was far superior. Rather OpenGL. The released version could be tweaked in it's config file to perform better in windowsXP in DX9, and look pretty close to the same as DX10, mods could add paralax. But it didn't look anywhere close to the preview.

Games need to look and perform well. They need a wow factor.
Good enough is not good enough. They need to far exceed expectations. Have reward in seeing more as incentive to continue.

I'd rather have them put that extra giga budget into gameplay systems or mechanics that wow me.

Ultrawide always seemed like a meme but thinking about Mad Max running with one is showing me the appeal.

This.
At this point every penny put into graphics is something not put into actual substance.

They're affordable now, you can get a decent one high refresh one for less than 300 bucks unless you want a OLED.

Enabling artists to do their best should be an objective of the game engine and hardware.
Struggle to make them maybe, too much, like it's trying too.
Killzone was like that on the PS2. Better for it. It'd still be a great looking game. Same for Shadow of the Colossus.
Killzone 2 had a grey version shown in 2007, that had a good style maybe better than the released version.
Design, art style plays a large role. Reducing it to make it work takes out some of the best.

There are some things I think are ok to reduce from an impressive game to make more of it in the released version playable by consoles or current pc hardware, or what people have. Though something great hardware can't do can push and influence hardware development.

1. Resolution decrease. Whenever system can't handle the action going on: Res reduced. See less to have more in play.
2. What doesn't need attention can be lowered in resolution.
3. Characters sprites, so performance can be conserved for world. What needs to be 3D: 3D, but what doesn't: 2D. World can be 2D too, with sufficient streaming, or storage reading rate, or RAM. 3D is better but hardware needs to get artistry impressive. When lingering or with someone then 3D perhaps. performance on them and irregular actions. Like somewhere safe: They're more people. Need privacy somewhat, or at least problems not present. Confinement counts as a problem. Need to be able to go to choose not to. Ha, prisons should be farms etc work essential to keep people young and healthy, the prisoners able to leave freely, wander, and return for something, like a female prisoner. I don't like women being imprisoned, but bad decisions should be kept out of their history, not hated by ohters. Have a good home life, fuck around, have fun, defeat the pressure and the past, what was bad over, protected from it again by other prisoners and the rest. All on side. The problems were a fuck up. Not the end at all. Need whatever they're good at. It may be being a "bad ass".

What the fuck do you think prioritisation is. Art is gameplay as well. You don't have either with performance wasted on resolution etc. You have a presentation instead of your own push in real time doing what is required to do the right thing and enjoy it.
You shouldn't be content unless you are incredibly impressed, by yourself, and what's there. What has faith in you too. An immense world and people more by faith, worth saving. Worth trying your best for. A happy ending is when they can be the good you know them as via their faith in you. The good stuff they have done not done by aniother. All the good them, to go on forever. Next time you'll make forever there or somewhere else good again, or get good, get to the state you are better somewhere else. Like here.

Coward. Don't cordon off games as the limitation that satisfies you. They are not impressive in OP, they need to raise, present progress and impue it in the player. Help them see the world in a good way. In difficult things done fun and easy. In wanting to be the hero,. Abkle to.

You can't put gameplay on a box, and you can't sell gameplay to an executive or shareholder. Especially in regards to technology and the need to upgrade every few years.
