Will this actually win game of the year?
Not that I would be mad but I don't know if I'd pick this over Expedition 33
What'd you guys think of it?

I don't think so. Review scores are comparable, but E33's popularity was on another level. I think launching only on PC+Switch really hurt the game's visibility and overall level of discussion. But it is a great game and my personal goty.

They're not. A 3-point differential in the 90+ is a significant gap.

Popularity doesn't matter. It'll help it win "Players' Choice," much like Wu Kong last year, but that's it.

I'm not sure where Silksong fits in between these 2. Realistically, I don't see it winning much of anything.

Silksong filtered normalfags and every journalist was whining about the price/stealth release interfering with other releases, so journalists hate it
Hades is good but it's a direct sequel for a game that's been in early access for a year. Not much to say about it other than it refined its core gameplay
Expedition wins because it was a breakout success out of nowhere and gave people the misery porn they desperately crave for some reason
Not that I'm complaining. It's nice to see a simple RPG do well even if I don't really care for it

Its pretty meh and isn't really a step up compared to the first game. Feels more like an expansion or a side game

They actually are adjusting the ending because everyone hated it. It's on the steam beta branch

Going from muh kill chronos and nuh gods are bad to and then everyone lived happily ever after (except the people the gods fucked with) is still awful compared to the simple family drama of the first game

Even if E33 shat itself in Act 3, I can see journos liking that more
And I'd argue Silksong has a way better ending than both but thats already marred by the difficulty memes
