This game is fucking boring. Just walking up and down stairs and slicing zombies that can't turn properly and endless door opening animations. Trash.

I agree

it's really a relentless puzzle game more than anything, a tedious one at that

yeah I could barely get to the 1st boss before I had to turn it off. RE fans do not have the RIGHT to complain about RE4+ being action slop if THIS is the best they have to offer.

What's that? You said the game isn't tedious enough? Okay, we'll add an item that forces you to walk slowly :^)

It literally takes 20 seconds to walk that thing to the generator. You did clear out the bugs, right?

Sums up the problems with the remake. Just a lot of dumb bullshit added for no real reason other than tedium and padding the game out. The mandatory Sword Key tutorial at the start of every game, splitting up the music notes into 2 pieces, removing the crates after the water in the guardhouse basement drains, backtracking all the way from Lisa's spooky house to the entry hall, that fuel thing.

Are we shitting on REmake now?

I have no nostalgia for these games. I played Silent Hill 1 & 2 for the first time last halloween and was completely enamored by them. This year I thought I'd play this game and its filtering me hard. I Just got to the part where I have to bring that guy serum, but its just been kind of boring

It was always a soulless tranny demake for non-secondaries

Boring is fine. That style of game isn't everyone's cup of tea. But this is just an utterly soulless remake with none of the charm of the original. Every bit as bad as modern remakes. In fact you could equally apply most of the criticisms of the RE4 remake to this one.

Been this way for awhile, I think it's mostly one guy considering he always lists a bunch of bullshit

After playing both, original afterwards, i honestly do think the original is just better. the pacing in it is perfect, remake adds all the lisa stuff and tons of new areas and things to worry about that slow it down a lot. not to mention the crimson head bullshit which is terrible and just wastes even more time and inventory space. not everything new is bad but its only really fun when you see it as a harder arrange mode saved for after you've gone through the original and i regret playing it first. it also fucks the tone and visual style of the mansion up really hard by making it look way more like a generic haunted house than a regular mansion. people who say "its the perfect remake and makes the original obsolete" are kinda insane to me now

The mansion itself isn't too bad, imo. The crypt with all the gearworks, the bleeding coffin, evil book, etc. is so fucking far off the mark for Resident Evil it feels like it was transplanted from a completely different game though.

Is it a bad idea to play this game with a guide? I keep dying and feel like I'm making no progress

I bet you're playing the remaster with the tacked on analog controls you pussy

I used a guide for the first 1-2 puzzles just so I can get an idea of what the game actually wants from me. Blind, I played for 5 hours and didn't progress anything so I was confused about how to actually play the game.

Once I got my first key, it started to make sense and then I didn't need the guide anymore

desu you should not be dying that much before crimson heads show up, like ignoring concerns of inventory management and routing, getting caught by zombie aggro patterns just isn't something you should be allowing to happen that frequently, it's meant to be a rare critical mistake. you are definitely doing something wrong in your approach. you probably need to be more methodical and cautious.

Resident Evil lost it's spooky factor the moment it turns out there's a laboratory under the manor.

I ruined REmake for myself when I went back and played the original 1996 game. What I found was a vastly superior game in terms of level design, puzzle design, and inventory management. In REmake, I think they almost tripled the number puzzle items yet kept the inventory system exactly the same. A lot of puzzle items are split up into two items. It adds a lot frustrating inventory management that simply wasn't present in the original game.
