SPEW was in the 80s and 90s the US, USSR , Germany and maybe some others were all trying to make guns that improved hit probability because you only get like 1 kill per 10,000 rounds fired or something retarded. The US built a ton of prototypes to fix it, but it turned out just adopting the ACOG fixed the hit rate issues because the issue was iron sights are fucking ass and a magnified optic helps you see shit
