I worked with a professional UI/UX designer and he HATED textures, anything ornate or looking like a real object. Everything had to be spartan, simple and "clean". Flat rectangles. Black backgrounds. The most he would tolerate is a subtle gradient. He would literally cringe when he saw UI in a medieval game with a parchment scroll background texture

UI designers somehow believe all UIs should be the same, from a fantasy video game UI to an air conditioner unit UI.
Art directors somehow think it's ok, and here we are.

Blizzard UI went from kino Warcraft 3, Diablo 2 and (Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty before the UI update), to soulless, minimalistic, cheap boring, sterile shit from Overwatch and onwards.

I had the same issue with the UI of God of War 2018. Such boring shit.

I suspect it just cheaper, more modular and scaleable for soulless hack developers.

The Persona games, Gravity Rush and all of Project Moon's games so far, are the most recent games I remember having nice menu/UI design.

All modern menus are made in the last minute with random slop being produced in the background.

This is the result. They physically can't make anything better, all UIs in games are like that. I thought it was cybergarbage2077 on the bottom in your image. Same "style". They think "siplicity" is cool. Which is only true if you simplify something complicated and you know how to do so and understand how to make simplicity work. These degenerates don't know it. They start from something simple already and can't improve on it. The lightbulb in their heads is extremely dim.
BUT they are lesbians (or trannies) and know all the made up genders and flags and respect niggers. Which is more important in the creative field nowadays

I'm allowed to live like pic related as a backend developer. I'm also allowed to endulge in rather rigid software design patterns to achieve beauty, readbility and maintainability in my particular field. But I do not want my fucking visual artists living like this, or at least creating "art" as if they live like this.
