He is what broke the game industry, and people like him, and now he's trying to pin that blame onto people and companies who did more to support gaming then anybody else.

Arthur Gies is a nepobaby who all his life got to do and say whatever he pleased until he hit that magical age of 40 when people don't really coddle you anymore and you have to accept accountability, or do the next best thing. Develop empathy and act like your "doing this for the betterment of others" so he is disguising his virtual signaling bullshit of "see over there, the bad guys" as a means to absolve himself of his own misdoings.

What Steam sales revealed was that the true market price of a video game is not MSRP. If you don't feel the need to be "part of the conversation" and buy something at release for full price, you can get the game and all the additional content for 50+% off down the road which is probably closer to its true value than MSRP.

Steam Sales are based because it encourages game devs to make games that aren't just flavor of the month but actually unique with a long lasting appeal.

Ninja Gaiden 4 isn't breaking any sales records exactly, but I 100% believe that game is going to have good legs because it's a great game that's filling an unique niche. It's overpriced at 70 dollars, but a great Steam Sale game. I will recommend it to anyone that wants a fun action game.

and the free games are usually the shit that bombs or GaaS games that made all their game sales so they will make it free to get people to come in and spend money on microtransactions. I have never played a "free" game that Playstation gave me and said "wow this was good I should have paid for it" and all the actual decent games are behind the PS+ version that is $160 a year.

You know the AAA industry is cooked when the journalists are trying to figure out why no one is buying games now.

Actual game insider here what is killing games is we shifted from most games being an experience you get 20-40 hours out of max with the occasional Halo 3 like game to all games being live service and designed to be the only game you play and when every company is trying that, your industry is going to collapse.

Waiting until a thing becomes cheaper is a very old and tried tactic.
Businesses doing "sales" where they discount their products isn't something the consumer forced onto them, it's a fucking marketing strategy that's been tried and tested.

If most people will rather wait on a sale before buying your product it just means that they don't consider your producet worth the money you're selling it for without a discount.

The industry was broken by it becoming too mainstream and corporate. In the 90's and 2000's it was a bunch of white male hobby enthusiasts working their assess off to make the best thing they can. Now in 2025 it's all design by comittee with women who don't really like games at the helm. They won't work a second over 40 hours. They are just copying the industry approved template and making a game with that.
