>Logitech G203
>bought on June of last year because it was on sale and I needed a temporary mouse for my work PC
>built my PC this year, now I use it for it
>scroll wheel is already crapping out

Not even the famed double clicking issue and I've been playing a lot of games since I got my PC. I swear, every single mouse I have owned ends with a faulty wheel after some months of use.

Recommend me a new mouse, preferably something with a proven good scroll wheel that won't die after staring at it for too long.

if all of your scroll wheels die, it's probably because you have the negative habit of having dirty hands before using your mouse. Scroll wheels are suspetable to dirt. Try washing your hands before using your keyboard and mouse. This will increase the lifespan of your keyboard, too.

I have gone through at least 3 G305's in the last 8 years or so. Double clicking appeared on all of them within 2 years.

I always have my hands clean, but I do admit that it could be a matter of dust accumulation. I'll see if I can open it and clean it up, or at least use some compressed air. And I actually just tested something quick, which was pressing on the wheel and scrolling up and down at least two full rotations each, and it kind of fixes the issue, so it's very likely that it's just dirty on the inside.

good wheels are near impossible to find now. even a high end mouse is gonna be a crapshoot on the wheel. any lower end mouse is guaranteed to have a shit wheel.

you can try your luck with aftermarket wheels from china

Thinking of getting picrel (Asus ROG Harpe Ace II).
It's overpriced as shit but it's the only modern mouse that still has the small USB dongle instead of a massive brick receiver.

Most mice that have dedicated docks + receivers use the dock as a USB port for a small dongle

They used to but not anymore. All the new models sans logishit come with a brick receiver and I'm not wasting any more money on logishit.

So, gamepads seem to have figured out hall effect/tmr/whatever the fuck, what about the mice? Is the double clicking just inevitable?

Analog input is the big draw for those, pointless when it's an on/off binary input
In Logitech it's a voltage mismatch issue for the switches iirc

My stupid chinkmouse drops connection randomly for no reason but I'm still using it because it's the most comfortable mouse I have
Plus it was like $15 so I can't regret buying it

I bought a razer viper v3 hyperspeed for 45 bucks on sale. It has a tiny usb dongle. But it does use AA batteries instead of usb charging, which I prefer since I have rechargeable AA batteries and I can just swap on the fly.

why do all peripherals with decent specs have to throw in RGB cancer for no reason
Anonymous No.724101257 [Report] >>724102391
>>724101147
Because throwing RGB has become so cheap and common that sometimes it's cheaper than a non-RGB equivalent, and it's a non-issue since you can either just turn it off or set it to one color.

aside from cost cutting, i think it's because people have a preference for wheels that have short/rapid clicks because it's more responsive. but this requires the internal gear mechanism to be finer-grained than they used to be and the teeth are likely physically smaller to not increase cost. so they wear out much faster leading to both issues with missed detections and double-clicks. to counter this you would need more durable material - denser plastic or metal parts. which the manufacturers don't want because they have to custom order it for $0.20/unit while the shit parts that are premade and ready to ship from a warehouse cost $0.003/unit
