by having a fanbase that is fueled by a potent mix of nostalgia and cope. If they replayed the game right now they'd be shocked by how mediocre it really is.

Every Souls Game has flaws and shitty areas, but more than enough highlights to compensate and make it memorable. Dark Souls 2 is a mediocre slog through and through unfortunately. DLC 2 was the only part that can be considered good

Sure some bosses and zones were really stupid and/or tedious but it has the best MP of all souls by far, that sadly got ruined by soul memory.
