The funny thing is it wasn't even a new engine. It was just the same shit that's been used since Combat Evolved, Bungie's internal Blam and Tiger stuff, but with new shaders, rendering and other things slapped on top to try to modernize it. They spent several years pulling a Gamebryo -> Creation Engine hype cycle and enhancement touting it as a big move for Halo. Then Microsoft hiring policies and horrific mismanagement meant a brain drain of everyone that knew how to use the engine since contractors could only be kept for 18 months before getting shuffled out for more, so the ENTIRE POINT of enhancing it up to Slipspace became a moot waste of money.
