If your argument is that ninja gaiden could in theory work in a more futuristic setting, (despite ng4 being trash) and that the problem is that the concept is never executed properly, I can maybe understand what you’re saying to a degree. if there was a cyber ninja design that I like I would probably say something like metal gear solid gray fox is decent. I would prefer it have elements that still look somewhat traditional, but it’s strength as a design at least lies in the fact it isn’t covered with an overwhelming amount of greeble and shit and has a relatively streamlined and sleek look. the problem with basically all cyberpunk futuristic shit is that it all copies the design aesthetic of faggot gaming peripherals like modern graphics cards, razr gaming mice, etc. (faggot in the unreasonable retarded sense not the homosexual sense you see)
Regardless though I do not think it’s a good direction for ninja gaiden to push into increasingly futuristic areas because you just end up having more encounters being machine guns, rocket launchers, large robots, cyborg abominations, increasingly boring sterile environments, shitty boring drone enemies that hover and annoy you with lasers, etc. I don’t mind a bit of that stuff in a ninja gaiden game here and there maybe for variety but at that point in that setting I want to play as a character with access to a bunch of sophisticated tech as well. And that isnt what ninja gaiden is about. You just are a ninja with a sword and some other simple tools and your agility.
Really I think if you wanted some ninja in the future game tou need to give him a bunch of tools like some level of cloak and stealth tech, a laser sword (since youre against futuristic guns it’s only fair) probably some type of Sam fisher night vision and hear vision tools, etc. obviously at that point it’s a different game
