Also, the door is not the way to progress. You just get an optional reward once the door is open.

There's yellow paint mechanics insulting one's intelligence on navigation, but then there's a game like this that doesn't lend itself to intuitive progression. Doesn't help that the visuals can be all over the place with the varied terrain that you can't always tell where you can or cannot go. Lava Cavern I had to do a loop or two to figure out where I needed to backtrack after I go the hairdryer power up. At the Treetop area, I didn't realize there was a checkpoint between the arena fight you do and the beehive until going back after the completing the beehive boss. It didn't help that the checkpoint was obscured by bushes. I don't know, I could be just retarded too.
