I upgraded a 5080 to a 5090 because of FOMO and it’s basically the same shit. If you want upper 100s at 4k you still have to use frame gen. Should’ve stuck with the 5080 TBQFH. 5080 was getting me like 90-100ish at 4k, double with frame gen. 5090 gets me 120-30ish at 4k, double with frame gen, and the frame gen is almost always worth it. But when you’re already at 200 frames, going to 240 doesn’t make that much of a difference. In any case, devs suck cock at optimization these days. A 5080 SHOULD be getting you 120+ without frame gen on all new games in 4K. But it rarely does that.

Probably because of the culture of pc gamers in that, they always want to have the strongest shit in their pc (consoomers, no different than Stacy buying her new purse) and pc gamers often having an elitist attitude of “if you can’t run it, it’s a you problem, I can afford it/find a workaround” basically pc gamers signaled for years and voted with their wallet making it obvious that they would get the games to work without the developers needing to do the work themselves for it to run on people’s machines. There isn’t any incentive to optimize your games if you have a big whale pool of people who will brute force the game into running on their machine who will just buy your shittt unoptimized game anyway.


But really though the most important part of my post that bares repeating is that if you are a PC dude and you are updating your computer with no parts every year you really are a consoomer and aren’t doing anything different than some guy buying some retarded watch or expensive sneakers. especially if you are telling your friends about it and posting gay pictures of your computer in your group chats and discords. But as I indicated, frame gen is usually worth it on modern titles because you can jump up to 240 or more with the 5090 at 4K, which is fantastic. With all that said, devs should still optimize better, and brown thirdies should git gud.

I don't owe you a non-paid Digital Foundry analysis, but they intentionally avoided stating what resolution Death Stranding 2 is upscaled from, opting instead to say it runs at a dynamic resolution. They are paid to do their videos, so they don't say anything that could make their sponsors look bad.

There are no 4k cards yet. I own a 4090 and it's simply not powerful enough for comfortable 4k gaming at max. The 5090's 30% performance increase sadly isn't enough either.
Hopefully the 6XXX will offer a huge jump but games seem to become more demanding faster than the hardware can keep up
