I went to a smash tournament to support a friend once. The memes about the horrid smell are absolutely true. Smelled like death in there. He lost his first match against a literal 8 year old and was so upset he kept berating the child for spamming until he was kicked out. The entire ride home (about 3 hours) he just seethed and spiraled until I eventually had to tell him to shut the fuck up. We haven't talked for years now because of it

A buddy of mine got me into comicon for free a couple of years ago. Felt like a gigantically lame monument to capitalism: whole buncha stalls of people trying to sell you anime swords, figurines of little japanese girls, and other assorted vidya/comicbook/anime slop; interview panels with anime voice actors; and some "literally who" celebs selling autographs and photos. The only cool thing about it was seeing nice costumes and sexy cosplay ladies, but you can get pretty much the same experience, along with the powerful odour of nerd sweat, by hanging around outside and going to the after parties.
